An Ion can run on Anti-Siphoned CO2 but it will not be good for the gun. Just save yourself a broken gun down the road and invest in a HPA tank.

The Ion is still pressing my limit though. I tracked down a refebished Diablo Mongoose for $130 which is much better then the usual so i just really want to know if it is a good gun and if it NEEDS nitrogen.

I wouldn't waste my money on one. It will run on CO2, but all it is is a Kingman clone sear tripper...
You would have a more reliable marker if you just E-Gripped your 98. |

CO2 is bad for alot of paintball markers. Liquid CO2 getting into the electronics of a mid to high end electro will freeze up the Solenoid.

You really should be using HPA in the trilogy.

You SHOULD use it in your trilogy because it's better for the gun. CO2 is bad for guns. HPA is good. Don't get a Mongoose. You'll be very unhappy with it and wish you never went there. Just save up for a while and sell your Trilogy or 98. Then, you can get HPA and an Ion. |

Yes.
I have a trilogy, and would never run CO2 on it. Even though the owners manual says it isn't required, it is highly recommended. |
