So I was driving back from a parade this morning, and I noticed people flying kites in this field near my house.

I stopped for some pictures.

These are some hXc massive kites. Some were much larger than the car they drove to the field in. My favorite was the gigantic red/black one that looked like something you would get in your lower intestine from drinking the water in Mexico. Also, one shaped like a dog.

Note the size of the child as compared to the giant thing in that one

No. Not right next to powelines. Not lol.

I was shooting down on an almost flat field that is quite large. Those power-lines are too far away for them to even be a worry for the kite people.

Thats what I do not know.

I know some of the super-super big ones, they had staked off in the ground, but I don't know what kind of device they use to keep them anchored like they do.

I'm fairly impressed, the pull of those should be enough to give any ground anchor quite a deal of strain.

Let alone just using your body, that's damn impressive.

The dog is really cool and so is the red/black one with the kid. Today is really windy, I wish I had a good kite to use.

I hate it when people have kites at the beach. They are dangerous. I've seen one lose altitude quit quickly and strike a lady on the head drawring blood. I avoid them now.

My dad used to be into the whole kite thing. I remember he bought a 25' Chinese Dragon kite. The thing is made out of flippin paper, which is extremely delicate compared to the PVC or whatever kind of plastic most kites are. The hard part is not controlling it, but getting the thing to fly. We had to bring a couple other people with us just to try to get it to fly.

We had a kit like that(made of out paper) and I broke it so I bought a dorito looking thing instead that was much more durable. It's deadly because you have two strings and if you pull on the one side it will loop down and if you get good at it you can hit things like cats.

lol, that's awsome. kites are fun once in a while, and those huge ones are sick. you could probaly strap a small kid/midget onto one those.

I am terrible at keeping some of the strings untangled so I am sure my kite would be on the ground for a long time until I undid all the strings.
