Just over a month ago my son rolled his truck, subsequently it was wrote off (I'll post the pics later).  He ended up with minor injuires; broken ribs, cracked jaw and cuts/bruises.  Since then trying to find something to replace it with a couple things in mind; good mileage and comfortable as he is 6'6".  One of the customers at my shop mentioned he is going through some rough times and probably would be selling his Subaru WRX.  He phoned last week and we looked at it and will be buying it Thursday.  I think it's 2002, and Sean really looked after this thing - it has 61,360 kms on it.  He has lots of little extras, 2 complete sets of tires/rims. TONS of leg/headroom and pretty decent mileage, the only thing is my son hasn't driven standard much so he will drive my truck and we'll practice after work until he's comfortable.

looks like a nice car. i too have to learn how to drive stick shift sooner or later...my buddy tried teaching me a little but he got to impatient with it. one thing i never understood is the engineering that goes into cars like those in the sense that they look small and end up having a lot of room inside.

How old is he?

I don't know the story behind how your son rolled the truck, but if it was from reckless driving I wouldn't buy him something that looks like a race car. Subaru is an excellent car though.

He'll be 19 in August, he hit a patch of ice, the arse end of the truck kicked around and it flipped, experience was definitely a factor.  To clarify, he'll be making payments and if he doesn't I'll keep it/sell it.  His insurance will be higher than normal due to his accident.

Are you sure you can trust your son with this?
He rolls a truck, gets a newer and better car, for free.
His mentality is, I just trashed a car, making my insurance rates go up higher, and got a new car. Will he have respect for it? No.

Its a great car, but you should really give this some thought, If he paid for most of it with his money, then I think he'd have a bit more respect for it. Replacing parts is not fun. If you can take the responsibility to drive a nice car, then you should be able to foot the bill.

Not Trying to be negative, nor envious, It's somewhat revolting to me the mentality that this boy is going to be learning. I had to buy my SUV, and it cost me an arm and a leg. Not to mention I had to learn about credit and a whole host of other things that will benefit me in the future.

Edit: My $0.02. If I were you, I'd snag that for myself.

AWESOME cars, I'd love one to play around with. I suggest placing the intercooler in the lower grill though, better air flow.

Show's how slow I am at typing, I didn't bother to pay attention to the "a new post has been added" message.
