Tactical Load Bearing Vest
5 Modded Hoppers:
84 round x 2
72 round
42 round x 2
Total paint count: 324
Camelbak "Thermobak 3L"
Tactical Web Belt
Heavy Duty Remote Line

Fully loaded with charged 20oz. Co2 and my bug spray = 10.6lbs. I weighed it making sure I got the same result 3 times in a row. Digital scales seem to be a bit fickle.
------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------
Now my idea is this: To create unique custom modded MilSim vests utilizing actual military gear, which will allow a great range of motion, be light in weight, and can be further modified. I'd like to be able to have a Camelbak on every one as I'm big on staying hydrated.

Now anybody that has the money, time, and imagination can make one of these easy, but I'm aiming for the player that has the money but no time nor the imagination to create a vest like this for themselves. What ideas or discrepancies can you raise with a vest like this? Keep in mind, I'll make something similar, but not exactly. The goal is to make vests that are one of a kind. Just something that was bouncing around in my head. Discuss.

See, that's just it though. I want to offer a basic but unique setup as you've seen, without much accessorizing except for what I've mentioned with a little modding here and there, but I want to leave further modification up to the player. Not everyone will want to carry a radio. You would and you could find military gear or whatever else you like to modify your vest as YOU see fit. My vest would be an excellent platform for the player to build off of, involving them in the modification process and that can be pretty fun and that's key to our sport. When I go to scenarios or rec, I like checking out people's gear. Usually though, everybody's got the same OpsGear stuff. It's like a Steven Seagal movie, you seen one, you seen 'em all.

i like when weight is dispersed higher on the back, and less on the waist. a waist belt decreases the load on the back and shoulders, but i dont like it flopping around. if i can get shoulder straps tight to me like its part of my body, im in.  camelbak is always a good idea.

i think i might like your vest the way it is.  all that i need right now would be camelbak, and pods, maybe pods in the front to counterbalance.  but might make reloading slower. and as im right handed i would like to have the pods close to my left hip maybe.

ive worn the old canadian military webgear. with the yoke and belt gear with the mag pouches and butt pack and bandolier pouch. even strapped as tight as possible, all the weight around the belt kept flopping around.  im not sure if i explained myself well enough, but i would like it better if all the weight was dispersed on the upper half of  my torso instead of the belt line.

nice vest techie

woudent this be more of a harness then a vest? it's a good vest/harness tho, just not my config layout.

it looks like it really works out, not too much stuff in the way, vary well planed out.

I like all the weight much higher myself. I'd rather have my upper body do all the lifting and yeah kurieitaa, it is more a harness than a vest. The range of motion I get with this rig is as free as one can get imo. I've tried the broadsword on just for kicks and for me, I didn't like it much because of how restricted I felt, but I'm a guy that wore an LBE for a long time so you might understand why full chest coverage is a bit cumbersome for me. Thanks for the input guys, keep 'em coming.

OK, for starters the over-all layout shows thought put into it. By running everything up the outer chest area you get to keep motion, so kudos for that. Personally the smaller hopper sizes would dive me nuts. I don't think I waste paint, but the 42round hoppers would feel like a bit too little to me. Of course there are whole leages that play with 50-ish round hopper limits that would love the idea. Would it be possible to keep the layout, make the 4 upper holders the 84 and the two lower ones the 72? Wait a second...I see 6 holders but you say 5...what am I missing here?

These rigs would require modded pods more than likely and capacity would vary. Remember, this military gear's designed to carry hand grenades, 40mm grenades for 203's and x number of 30rd. 5.56 mags. not paintball pods.

I did put thought into this rig, thanks for the comment Nagash. Now as far as the pods go, size had to vary due to the size of the pouches. The 2 inner pouches are actually quite smaller than the 2 outer. Doesn't look it, but there's less volume, that's why I had to go a bit short and make a 72. I only made one 72, because I keep my bug-spray in the other pouch. However my plan is to mod a sixth pod if I cloned this rig. At first I was a bit apprehensive about the differing pod sizes, but I quickly got over it when I put it on and saw how well it felt. I now carry a little more paint than I did before, but it feels lighter because how my pods are positioned and carried. Like I mentioned though, my vests will be different everytime I make 'em, so capacity/ball count will differ. I want to keep my rigs below 15lbs and more around 10. Tek-lite FTW.

wow LBV now that's going down memory lane. Tech all the kids now days are into the 'Moar' mentality. Why I see so many overloaded with MOLE pouches and straps that they don't look like they cant run ten feet. The problem with most MILSIMers is that they forget the basics of weight, movement and practicality. I have always laughed when I see someone buy and use an Airsoft vest or the real deal that's made for prolonged sustained warfare. Like they are patrolling through Bagdad. None one paintbals a week straight in the boonies carrying everything they own like Grunts. They are just all into the "Special Operations"look but not the Special Operations mentality.

I now wear a RAP4 4+1 Harness in MARPAT because MARPAT > woodland and I went to war wearing woodland. Many go to those Spec Ops cookie cutter pre fabricated fantasy 'Positions' to justify dumping over $100 on crap they don't need.

Kudos on keeping it real ... thou the woodland ages you bro.

Looks nice.  I use a Flurry speedball belt which will hold a 2 liter hydration bladder.

I'd like to see you continue on the path of smaller/lighter with the pod holders on the back.  Take a look at Flurry's pod release straps.  They're nice but not really necessary with the pods up front.

When I was ground pounding 21 years ago, woodland was the style. I gotta stay true
to my roots baby. werd.....

I was looking through the harness/vests on ebaY and then I came by this bad boy for $19.50 S&H included! What?!:

Pfffft, bought it. Couldn't pass it up. It has everything but a Camelbak and some pods. Lol, guess I am gonna clone my rig, but I'm jacking the buttpack. See guys, mod your own gear for cheap or buy 'em from me later.

I really like the idea of having a Camelbak on the vest. I know that NXe has a harness that features the option of putting one in their harness, but having one included would be alot better.

Yeah definately. I'm big on hydrating; you gotta drink water man. What's nice about these vests too is I can make 'em at a reasonable price and in doing so, can give my customers a good deal. I've posted this at MilSimzone, OpsGear, 98OG and a couple other spots and the responses are rather encouraging. I hope my first clone does Ok.

Already I'm put off by the sheer size of that vest. For me, that would be GINORMOUS, it looks restrictive and presents a much larger silhouette for your opponent to shoot at, but he'll probably have on something similar so you'll both be on an even keel.
