and be somebody..... who runs into a street lamp.  Comeon, Is it that hard to find a ride or pay for a cab?  I am not talking about anyone on the forum here, but it never ends.  On New years eve / day "and every weekend" there are always hit and run's on light poles, other people's vehciels, and even houses.  "The house was a few years a go."  I'm sorry, but isn't the risk of killing someone else "or your self for that note" enough of a reason?  Then that feat of the cop pulling you over and hitten you with a DUI.  But then the drunk guy gets to tell the cop how the cop is getting him fired and wrecking his life.
Or better yet, the suspect comes in the next morning after all signs of alcohol are gone and states that they hit said vehicle or pole but just wanted to get home.  Then they get cited for leaving the scene of a crash which is 14 points and i don't remember the fine.
Where has the common sence gone?
I'm sorry guys I just needed to rant a little...  If you have any insight as to why driving drunk seems soo fun, let's see it.
It sucks being antisocial alone.

Drunk Driving is something I have no tolerance for.  If someone wants to put their life at risk, fine, I don't care, but when you drive drunk you put everyone else at risk.  Ironically drunk drivers are more likely to survive an accident then sober drivers, since they'll usually be more relaxed at impact.

We almost got killed by one last night.

Hey OP, did someone drive into a pole near you?

Some jerk last night was riding everyone's tails. He crossed infront of me so I revved my engine then it became his mission to harass me as much as possible. He would slow down wanting me to come up next to him but I just kept going slower cause I was waisting his time if he was in such a hurry. Then he got in a huge turn line and was stuck so I went passed him and revved at him again. Once the line got moving he got out of the line and caught up with me and was going really fast. Smoked the tires trying to stop. I was hoping he would hit the curb as he turned around to go back the way he was going.

I for one, love drunk drivers.

Seriously, do we need a topic to tell us that the sky is blue?

Anyone ever get drunk before?
Something something impaired judgement something something.

I for one know how stupid it is to drink and drive, but for some reason when I get plastered the first idea to come to mind is to drive far and fast. Which is why I don't drink.

I don't really think people are stupid for drinking and driving, because most of the time there is no coherent decision made they just start driving. What gets me is that people keep drinking after they KNOW they're gonna get in the car and drive somewhere. Some people just start the night out drinking with no intentions of getting a ride from someone else.

Impaired judgement is bull. You don't see impaired people robbing corner stores,
or swindling old people. They know it's wrong, drunk or not.

This.  And I guess I'm just the forum asshole - I drink and drive somewhat often whereas apparently here everyone else are fine, upstanding citizens.  If I'm partying somewhere and the party is winding down, I am hungry, or I want to sleep somewhere more comfortable than the floor, I'll just dip.  Yeah, I'm a menace to society, putting everyone in danger, et cetera.  And yes, everyone says they drive safer when they drink and drive, but I really do, barring the reaction time impairment, obviously.  I drive the speed limit, use my blinker, stop for yellow lights, and all that stuff when drunk, but never when sober.

No, I'm not trying to defend myself or anyone else who does it though.  Just providing my point of view.

I have never driven drunk.  You may be a more cautious driver when you are drunk, but that does not make you a better driver.  Your reaction time and judgment are still crap, which makes you a worse driver.

You ARE putting others in dangers, and if your reaction time is decreased you are NOT driving safer, regardless of the specific habits you may have. I hope you get caught and face the consequences before you kill someone.

About as dumb as someone who tries to rationalize drunk driving.

Your point of view is hugely flawed, and you look like an idiot for honestly believing what you just wrote. That's seriously just sad, I didn't think anyone actually could rationalize it with "I'm safer" but you just did...moronic.

Drunk Driving is a horrible thing to do, but having said that, I can think of two guys I'd rather ride with when they're drunk than sober.  I NEVER drive drunk myself, but I'd be lying if i said I never rode with drunk drivers, I pretty much do what I'm told to when I'm drunk.

When the police stop you for whatever, they look for clues as to if you have been drunk driving.  Putting a dip in doesn't do anything.  if anything they will take you to the hospital and get a blood draw.  There the dip doesn't matter.  and if that isn't an option...the police will wait 20 minutes untill your mouth has cleared to conduct the breath test.  In ND it is the officer's choice if you take the breath or blood test.  You can refuse...but that will suspend your license for up to 4 years.
On another note, I bet the guys / gals that hit the poles and parked vehicles / other people, think they are all kinds of the best / safest drivers in the world just before they hit the parked vehicle.  And yes, there are people that can't drive worth a damn without the alcohol that shouldn't have a license.  But that last one is another topic.
Just stay safe out on the roads, and make good choices.  We had too many crashes that ended with someone not going home to parents, friends, and kids in 2009.  Have a happy and safe 2010 everyone.
