Will be playing it for the first time a little later tonight. This will decide whether or not I go out and get a ps3.

My brother picked this up yesterday at midnight. Saw it tonight on his new 46" Samsung. All I can say is wow. Very nice gfx. Saw COD: Black Ops too. Trying to avoid that itch. Anyone know how the Wii version stacks up to the PS3 as far as playability?

Well, I played for the first time tonight and wasn't entirely impressed. I ran an m3 and a Zonda and it seemed as if the tracks were to narrow. I found myself having to slow down to a crawl through most turns. Which is somewhat ridiculous considering both cars are high performance cars that are supposed to have amazing handling.

How fast did the speedo say you were going? I have found with most racing games the speedo will say 60 when it looks like you are going 30.

This made me think about how much of my childhood was devoted to unlocking everything in GT2. It was a lot.

Speedo definitely said I was doing like 30. Idk I will have to give it another shot later, I think I just need more time with it.

No game has really got down the sensation of speed. But I can tell you, GT5 is better at that than Forza 3.

That's a hard thing to simulate though. ![]() And Kickingwing, I'm still kind of amazed by your story, it'd have to be one crazy hairpin to get an M3 to slide at 30mph. The Zonda isn't exactly the best handling car in the super car world, but still, thats ridiculous. You sure someone hadn't decided to tune in 20 degrees of positive camber on your cars or something? And it could have been a road coarse - some parts of which could be laid with brick/cobblestone. It's not unheard of.

Most simulation style games really have you riding the brake pretty hard on turns, that's the hardest thing to adjust to when you first start playing. There are some courses where it feels like you never get above 30 or 40 the whole time, but then again, those are my favorite ones to play. And like someone else said, it's really hard to simulate speed. That's why I like arcade racers like Midnight Club for a break every now and then :P

I like more intermediate tracks, has both tough corners and faster areas as well. I have a love affair with Lamborghini, so I pretty much sit there thinking, "can I throw the v12 into full throttle now? Please?"

The braking into turns doesn't bother me, it's the fact that most tracks have the turns get tighter as the turn progresses. Everything I know about cornering can be summed up as brake in, accelerate out. Most turns in Forza have me braking for like 90% of the turn. It makes everything a bit more frustrating.

This is my first PS3, so getting use to the controller took a bit. But I bought some of these, talk about a life saver. For throttle, (I don't use right stick for throttle/brake).

From what I've read, basically, Brake just short of locking up as you approach the corner in a straight line, then let off the brakes to about 1/3 full braking force as you begin to turn in. Wait until you've hit the apex of the corner before you begin to straighten the car out and apply the throttle. If you go too fast into the corner, you'll have to brake further into it to prevent under-steer - which might be the problem.Hopefully that made sense, lol. And if not, theres more reliable sources online.
