What are all of you doing for real Thanksgiving this week, and black friday?
I am leaving school mid day wednesday, and staying home for Thanksgiving. Im not sure who is coming over. Friday I start work at 5am and I think I am working an 8hr shift which is not too bad. My store (Eddie Bauer) opens at 4AM IIRC. Saturday I am also working some really early morning shift. Shopping wise, I am probably not going out. I might stop by Dicks to look at ammo prices, since I plan on buying my dad some .30-30, .45 ACP, .38 spl, .22 and some range passes for christmas. Plans? On a side note, the one thing I love about colder weather is I have an excuse to wear my commie hat. I love mine, which is similar to this: ![]() Edited by SSOK - 20 November 2011 at 12:26pm |

Doing TG dinner and drinking/PS3 at a friend's house. Planning on going to Zurich for a day trip sometime during the weekend.
Edit: Dick's has horrible ammo prices. Their sale prices are still higher than a lot of other places normal prices. Edited by evillepaintball - 20 November 2011 at 12:28pm |

I'm in a massive quandary this year. My parents, at the house they're staying in, are hosting thanksgiving this year. After everything that's happened to them, I sort of have to be there. I WANT to be there.
The trouble is, that the rotation states that we're with the in-laws this year, so I need to find a way to wrangle both somehow. Right now, my plan is to leave for the in laws wednesday night, and leave there thursday after dinner and make dessert with my family, which gives me the weekend free to hunt, relax, or whatever. I'm POSITIVE that's not going to fly with the Mrs. though. She wants to spend thursday morning here, and leave for her parents sometime PRIOR to dinner....which I don't want to do because we wrap up thanksgiving festivities down there meaning we can't get out of there until sometime friday at the earliest, and I don't want to travel on black friday, especially since they live near a massive shopping center which means we'll be stuck in traffic downstate for at least an hour trying to get out of there...probably meaning that we won't leave until SAT....which I'm not thrilled with that idea. I may just shoot myself instead. |

This is my first Black Friday in 4 years that I dont work Retail and my office is actually closed on Friday. So, I figured I would go wander around the mall. This is the first year I havent planned to buy anything.
I may make some food/drink runs for people at JCP that I know. Edited by MeanMan - 20 November 2011 at 6:56pm |

I am going tire shopping. I heard some good deals on tires at walmart will be going on. If I can find a set that fit my car, I'm probably going to bite. I don't think I want to go in any stores beyond that though.

Without driving to Pennsylvania, its all I have. I have one legitimate gunstore by me which is run by a d-bag. I went in there awhile back to buy some 30 Carbine, and the conversation went like this: Me (deaf from radio blasting): Hi, do you have any 30 Carbine? Guy: Yeah, got FID? Me: Yes Guy: (holding what looks like a 20rd box upside down about 7 feet behind a counter in a dark gunstore) Me: How much/what brand? Guy: its this brand (shakes box) Me: How much? Guy: (random absurdly expensive price). Other than that, I have a local sporting goods store that has nice people, but still way more expensive. Last time I was at Dick's, the prices weren't too bad. Not walmart, but reasonable.

I wont be shopping on black friday, hopefully, ever. For thanksgiving, I'll be meet both my parents places for their respective meals, bring my grandmother to my aunt's house, play hide and go drink (and watch football) to avoid drama, and let someone else bring grandma back to the home. I will then try to avoid everybody I'm related to until Christmas when I will repeat the process.

Thought we were going to my wifes families for TGD, but apparently they committed too late and most of the other members of the family made plans, so they cancelled. We usually make our own turkey on Friday, but this is now falling on us. Also the first year that I have used the Turkey Fryer that I got last year, so that may be interesting. Would have liked to have tried it out on my immediate family instead of subjecting my extended family to potential turkey failure.... Already figured out one problem... I bought too big of a bird and am not going to have to go back out and get a smaller one. Fryer only handles up to a 15 pound bird and I already bought a 25lb monster like I normally do.
Wife and daughter are running in a TGD 5k. Not exactly what I want to be doing on a cold November morning, but whatev.
Oh, and since we have just moved into a new house, we still have a fair amount of boxes and crap laying around, a garage 1/2 full of boxes, a small trailer that still needs to be unloaded, a basement at our old house that needs emptying and a storage unit with all of our Xmas stuff and "essentials". Woot.
I have never gone outside of the house on Black Friday, and I don't intend to start. I picked up all the materials I need to stay holed up for the weekend and intend to finish some projects, mainly finishing touches in the basement. Edited by oldpbnoob - 21 November 2011 at 8:55am |

oldpbnoob, it isn't that bad going outside. I dont understand why people avoid going out at all like the world is radioactive or something. Just avoid big stores and malls.
My shift got changed. Im now working 12am Thansgiving night/Black friday morning until 830am. Should be fun, literally.
