So, uhh... About this whole Dumb Parts (Smart PArts) thing... Is the mechanical paintball marker patented? What about the R/T and cyclone? Or the ASA or tank valve? (Tippmann was instrumental in developing both of these, if I'm correct) What about the HPA or nitro tanks, or CO2 tanks? What about the simple idea of a trigger, or trigger system?
Dude... if these aren't patented... I can see Smart Parts jumping on it pretty soon... <Insert other stuff here> |

well really if you think about it the "trigger" goes back sooo far in history no one can patent it. Smart Parts or Tippmann none of them invented the trigger. |

you can only patent something you invented. if there's prior instances of the technology, you can't patent it.

I think some of those can be classified as "public knowledge," and therefore cannot be patented. Example: you can't patent the wheel.
