some one should make a solar powered hopper. IT would save money with batteries. |

good idea, but im pretty sure solar cells could be damaged by a 280 fps direct shot.

I doubt solar cells produce enough current to power the motor either.

actually a solar cell could produce enough energy but i don't know for how long. and at night it could still work, most solar powered items can store energy, so if you were to say leave it out in the sun to prepare yourself for a couple hours it could charge it to run for a while anyway. it is a good idea, you just need a way to make sure the solar cells store energy. it would have to have quite a bit of cells on it to gather the energy necessary to run it. |

It would save money on batteries, but how expensive eould it be? We are talking solar cells here. It's a good idea, my only doubt is the MSRP.

I'm guessing you play woodsball. And as stated above, I wouldn't want my $400 dollar solar cells getting smacked by a paintball at 280 fps... |

I doubt the solar panels would be durable enough for either woodsball or speedball

Bingo. Unless you put a lexan sheild over the cells, it wouldnt survive. Plus you need a fairly big pannel to put out 3 volts (about 3 in X 14 in), let alone 9 volts, unless you want to spend hundreads more. Edited by Darur |

Attach a solar panel to your back!! And wire it to the hopper! Ya it would be expensive... I'd rather just buy an electric hopper with like... Lithium batteries er something, lithium batteries should last a long time.
