So with myself probably getting a phantom, as well as one or two others
on here, I figured it'd be fun to have a tactics thread so that we all
don't get horibly reamed in games.
I have used a pump(SL68-II) numerous times, but that was always with a 50 rnd filled hopper and a 12oz c02. I'm probably gonna go pure stock class, and that changes things a bit. It'll be mostly outlaw, but I will be wandering over to the local speedball fields on occasion during the winter. Also, if anyone knows any ways to practice maneuvers and such with a pump in my backyard, I'd appreciate the insight. |

Your biggest manuever is a snap shot. Even when you had a 50 round hopper, how many shots did you use in a game? I was averaging 15 shots in a speedball game. I would tell you that you will need to adjust to learn to switch 12-grams during a game, but you will probably RARELY do that with a Phantom since they are so great on Co2 usage. You need to learn to be more aggressive with a pump. You have less gear to carry and it makes you smaller and faster... use that to your advantage. Slide into the smaller bunkers, utilize the snakes (you don't have a pack sticking up in the air). Basically, push the game. |

snapshots ehh? I'll have to look into that.
I figured that ebign more aggresive would come up, and I really like that idea. I felt really bored and useless sitting behind a bunker with my A-5. |

The snapshot is the most satisfying trick .... getting rained on by a electro .... gauge your distant ... pop out and snap the shot and goggle him .... I usually piss off Angel and AC players when I thank them for bring out their $1000 plus markers so I could shoot them out with my P68SC ... Granted I just palmerized it .... It's still sweet!!! Thinking of picking up a Phantom too .... Just looking for the cheapest place. |

You probably know this, but a word of advice is not to be intimidated by the semi guys. Just go all out. There is no better feeling than taking out someone who thinks they're hot stuff with a pump.

woodsball tactics, eh? For starters, stealth owns all in woodsball. This is doubly true when you have a lower rate of fire. Watch where you walk, stay alert, scan for any motion at all, and keep your ears open. Well actually, I think pump tactics in the woods are about the same as they are with semi in the woods... |
