Please tell me what you think of each of them. I was mainly
wondering if the a5 has the 98 beat in performance.

Its all personal preferance... The A5 w/ E-grip is more customizeable then a E-98c. but the R/T on a 98 works more efficient. its all preferance.

A lot of people will tell you that the 98c is better for whatever reason but trust me, they're mistaken. My first gun was a 98c which I got almost 4 years ago and still have and use and I didn't get my A5 until about 2 years ago. If I was biased, it would be in favor of the 98c but I'm definitely going to choose the A5 over the 98c. The simplest way of thinking about it is that the A5 is a 98c with more features, just as many (if not more) upgrades, and a little more expensive. Anything you can do to a 98c can almost definitely be done to an A5 but there are some things like the cyclone or quick-striping that the 98c can't have. The A5 is about $100 more than a 98c but when you consider the things that your $100 get you, it's well worth it. Here's a list of things the stock A5 has that a stock 98c does not:

  1. Sealed cocking slot (cocking knob also doesn't move so it won't hit your fingers when cycling)
  2. Cyclone feed
  3. Quick strip
  4. Removeable grip frame
  5. Removeable barrel threads
  6. Built in vertical adapter
  7. Adjustable front grip

Of those features, only a few can be had on the 98c and those few add up to more than $100 in value. Since the insides of the two guns are nearly identical, performance is just about the same between the two. The difference is that for $100 you get those 7 features which would cost much more to get on a 98c. I honestly can't think of one big thing that the 98c has and the A5 doesn't. There are small things like needing an adapter for the A5 to accept a drop forward but that's not a big deal considering all the other stuff you get. If you plan on getting one of these two and upgrading a lot then I highly suggest getting the A5. It will turn out to be a better gun in the end.

they are essentially the same except it is soooooooooo hard to out shoot the cyclone feeder on the A-5  and it is also just a newer model  with some improvements        that is why i have voted A-5    that and i own an A-5 and will attest to having beaten multiple people with 98c's     thats not saying much because it is the person behind the gun   not the gun but still

well obviously the a-5 is better, its more expensive(which most of the time in life means better) and it is also the newer model.  the a-5 is basically a 98c with a good hopper.  they really arent better than each other at all.

Nope your'e wrong there. The reason that the A-5 is more expensive is that it is a different marker. It may look the same as a 98 but I hve an A-5 and I know for a fact that they are two entirely different markers. The A-5 hasmore moving parts and is infact larder than the 98. The hopper an a 98 can range from a little plastick one all the way to a halo. The hopper for an A-5 could be the same but if your'e smart youll get it with the cyclone feed system on it cause then it comes with the worlds fastest hopper on it. One that lets you pull the trigger as fast as you want and not have to worry about batteries or chopping at all. The A-5 is an all around better marker than the 98, unless you get one without the cyclone feed system cause then you just wasted money on another normal semi-auto marker.

more expensive doesn't really mean that it is better. which marker, it's all according to your preference and I prefer my 98c.

Oh wow, that is so incredibly wrong. They don't charge more for the A5 because it's better, they charge more because it costs them more to make. Companies charge more for newer models regardless of how they compare to the older ones because they know people will think the same way you do and pay the higher price tag for it. They could be selling you a piece of crap but you wouldn't know until you bought it because you made an assumption about the quality based on price, something you should never ever do. The A5 is basically a 98c with a good hopper but that's not a bad thing. It's the next evolution of the 98c design and it makes some changes that can't be done with aftermarket upgrades to a 98c. And on top of that, it comes out cheaper than adding similar parts to a 98.

Well, there are some things in that post and some that are wrong. To save space I only reposted the things I disagreed with. The 98c and A5 is just as long as the 98 and about the same height as well, the difference is width. Because of the cyclone, the gun will stick out the the right about an inch more than a normal hopper. However, the hopper is also lower to the gun so it doesn't stick up as high as a normal hopper. So in a way it's both larger and smaller, it depends on how you look at it. The gun body itself, without the hopper, is the same as the 98c for the most part. Now, unless I missed something, the only feed system available for the A5 is the cyclone which always comes with the gun. It seems to me that you've been misinformed about the A5 but if not then post a link to the upgrade that allows a standard hopper so I don't mislead anybody. The cyclone is an awesome feed system anyway, I don't know why anybody would want to chuck it.

I own a 98C and i love it to death.  But in this contest, i will have to side with the A-5.  Theres a higher cycle rate (11 to 15bps), and i think its just a better gun overall.

Heh.. heh.. I didnt relize the A5 Was more when you break both guns down.... The A5 comes stock with a Vertical Adapter(20$) and comes with possilby one of the Fastest loader systems on the market(at the least 80$) Yet.... the A5's Grip is Angled so if you want to Add a Drop-kit theres 8-15$ to buy a Mount Block. So if you do the math the A5 comes out Cheaper.

98c:  139$(98c) + 82(EvoII) + 20(Vertical Adapter) = 241$

A5: 229(A5) + 10$(Mount-Block) = 239$

So the A5 is cheaper by 2$ plus The vertical Adapter in the A5 is already installed,I dont know about you guys But I had to literly take a hammer to my Vertical Adapter on my 98c, and you get field Stripping(Lot easier to clean then the 98). The only way I can think of How the 98c is better is that you dont have to  file or do any wierdo jobs to have a double trigger work with a R/T.

Thank you Panda Man for giving me hope that there is some intelligence left with the newer members on this forum . Usually people just stick to the "I own a 98c and I like it so I can ignore the facts" philosophy on this situation. I'm not saying you can't prefer the 98c over the A5 but you can't deny that the A5 is a better design and will end up costing about the same as a 98c (cheaper even) if both are equiped with the most common performance upgrades. No matter how many times I say and prove it, people still deny it. At least one person has seen the light.

@5 MA$T@, I'm sure everybody would appreciate it if you were a little more specific in your posts and if not all of them was aimed to insult somebody. If you're gonna throw an insult, at least go into detail about what you disagree with them on otherwise the post is useless and only serves to start trouble. I don't mean to sound like your mother but this place is most helpful to people when insults are kept to a minimum and you give informative posts.
