    Posted: 21 October 2004 at 6:32pm

Hey all you A5 owners out there. Want to get a better barrel but don't have the money? Well I have the perfect solution. I took my A5 stock barrel and actually shortend it, to 4 3/4 inches, actually. Yes I know "longer barrels are more accurate " and all that other crap but I'm serious. I also own an 18 inch barrel and my 4 3/4 barrel is just as accurate! Now I'm not saying go and cut your stock as short as possible. Cut it about half a centimeter past the holes so they remain on the new barrel you created. Grind and buff down the end of the barrel to make it smooth and if you want to (I did) you can bevel the outside edge at the end to make it look better. However, I will take no responsibility if you screw it up! I have confidence in the barrel and I gaurentee you will like it.

I'll show you whose more accurate! I'm just kiddn'. No, really. Soon I'll upload some pictures of my barrel. It's great for woodsball, being short and all. The only difference from the 18" is the noise level. My short barrel is pretty loud but will shoot about as accurate as a Freak-All American at thirty-forty feet which is better than decent. Of course you need a good bore size match between your barrel and paint. I find C.O.R.E. and PMI work the best. However, Do not use diablo's.

A longer barrel doesn't give you more accuracy, it just uses up more air.

or you could spend 30-40 on a JJ ceramic, it gurantees accuracy, but if you don't have any, it wont help.

Whatever....When the gun shoots, it uses the same amount of air every time. A longer barrel doesn't use more air.

And the only improvement to an A-5 stock barrel is to cut it up into a million pieces and burn it till there's nothing left. Then go buy a good barrel.

A-5 w/ 12IN. Lapco Bigshot.
R/T
20oz. and 16oz. tanks.

98c with 14In. Terminator
14oz. and 9oz. tanks.

You guys are just scared little schoolgirls, too afraid to make your stock barrel better because you lack machinery skills. Crawl back to your holes. If your too afraid to try, then don't bother. I'm just happy I have a better stock barrel without spending a penny

Actually, a longer barrel WILL use more air, as you'll have to increase your gas flow to get the velocity up from a shorter barrel. It takes more pressure to fire the paintball down the barrel and get it to reach the desired fps due to friction. The more barrel, the more air.

Whoa! If you meant that to "BigGun", you have no idea who you're talking to. BigGun worked in machinery shop for quite awhile and he was pretty good. So, please make sure you wash your feet because I'm putting them in your mouth .

LOL, schoolgirls?!? Who does this guy think he is??? Whatever, CGO out…..

P.s. Understand, I have no problems with your stock-barrel improvements, but don’t flame my friends.

i did this to mine. actually right behind the porting is were i cut it off. its loud and i love it. and if you have never tried it you have no idea how accurate it can be. if you do it right it will be more accurate than the stock barrel because there are less defects for the paintball to travel through. and if you have any doubts a short barrel can be accurate take a nelspot007 for example. it can shoot a quarter off a tree at 50 feet away with a 4" barrel. the cut off barrel will NOT compare w/ a freak but it is an improvement. try it its worth it
