Heres my idea to make paintballs more accurate, make them football shaped and add a third ribbon in the middle to seperate the fill into halves. This would allow for rifling. In a standard paintball rifling doesn't work because the fill won't spin but with it spilt into 2 equal halves it would. The reason for the football shape is to ensure that paintball would spin properly. Think of a paintball as a glass of ice water. If you try to spin it the ice doesn't move (like a pb's fill) but with something splitting the glass down the center the ice will spin with the cup. Obviously this new paintball wouldn't work in a standard marker but a breech loaded or magazine feed marker could easily be made. Here is an example of what I mean, red is one half of the fill, blue is the other.
