Hey guys and gals, im a proud owner of a 98 custom and it is completly stock.  It seems to be lacking power though, my brother got an avenger from wal-mart and it fires farther and stronger than mine.  Any suggestions?

Thanks

The only reason his gun would shoot farther is that his velocity is higher. Turn yours up using the screw on the side of the gun, but never turn any gun over 300 fps.

They are more like $68-$80. If you find one for $20-$30 I doubt that it will be accurate in telling you the FPS.

they are about $40 for a cheap one. i would pick one up. also your gun is probably more accurate then his. to add distance you will need to buy the flatline barrel and it will add 100 feet or distance to your shot. otherwise something is wrong with your gun. get it checked out by your local pro shop. maybe they can find out what is wrong with it.

i have a stock barrel and it is fine. my velocity is low so thats why it doesnt go that far. take an allen wrench and adjust it to make it faster. that would do the job, and if it doesnt just go to the nearest paintball shop to get it checked out.

You can't tell if a gun is firing correctly by comparing it to another gun when neither one has been chronographed. If you have adjusted the velocity adjustment screw and can't get it to shoot as fast as the other gun it is probably because the other gun is firing too fast to be safe. If you can't afford a chronograph then go somewhere that has one you can use. Screw the velocity screw all the way in then take it out a half turn at a time firing a couple of balls each half turn until it gets to 280-300 fps. Remember how many turns out the screw is so at least you will have an idea of where the safe range is. With my Model 98 that is about 2 1/2 to 3 full turns out.
No need to point out the perfectly obvious, the merely obvious will do.
