i was looking to buy this barrel but the only one i could find at first was a 16 in. and i didnt want that. so i checked other places and i could only find an allamerican barrel back. that was on paintballgear.com. it didnt cost that much but what kind of front did the barrel that i saw have? was it a freak front? i think so but im not sure.

All Americans suck. My friend bought one then returned it because the threading created a lip and ripped through balls like crazy. Get either a J+J barrel of some sort or a Dye barrel.

dern strait. i heard they are one of the most accurate barrels on the market. but the All American and the Progressive arnt very different at all. like the AA is like a tad betta. in accuracy and rangge. but its ur decision and yes i heard someone else say this about DYE barrels. " its 70 for the barrel, and 50 for the name." good quote stuck with me apparently GET A 14in!! NO MATTER WHAT!! Edited by Pooner |

The AA is an excellent choice and they're a .689 bore so most all paints will fit it great. I'd get the AA front because it cleans out a bit easier than the others. Dunno if the M98 barrel will fit the A-5 but they're $69 here with the choice of color, length and front. Pretty good deal. I got my AA from there - http://store.yahoo.com/paintballwholesalers2003-store/smpati m98two.html

I got an old skool "1-piece" AA many years ago used for $35, and its still the best barrel in my collection.

I've owned my AA for about a season now and have no complaints. I also purcased a Mini Bigshot (7.5") this summer as well and have had equal quality & performance. Both of these barrels work great on the Custom 98, with a large bore you can use a large variety of paint as well. I personally like the AA tip better, it's easier to clean and performs the same. Check out www.countypaintball.com they carry the All-American and the Lapco Bigshot. |

The AA front comes with the AA. I had to order my Freak tip separately from the barrel.

my firend has an AA and he says he doesn't like it but i have no
experience with it. I recomend the Ultralite. U don't have
to agree, but I think its the best out there.

I love the all american on my dads shocker. If you can, get an "old school" one piece off ebay or something because the older barrels are actually better made than the ones now. Go to firstcallpaintball.com cause they have the all american for the A-5 on sale for like $25, no joke.
