nobody gets a christmas break, just winter break, its not politically correct to call it christmas break, even though 84% of Americans are Christian..... It irritates me, sorry for lack of punctuation. Edited by WGP guy |

Um what? Some poeple dont call it christmas break/vacation/whatever because other people celebrate holidays that are not christmas during thoes times. Seems easy to grasp to me. Whats the big deal about just saying "Happy Holidays" instead? What are you trying to prove exactilly? Say whatever you want, but when buisnesses and schools give vacations they call it "Winter Break" instead to cover everybody.

eh, when did I mention Santa? That has nothing to do with it for most people. Also, my seven year old cousin (this is in school) learned about ramedan, but not Christmas, how can they try to be politically correct in incorperating all of them, but then not be PC in teaching about them? I sense a double standard |

Ok, so lets just say they take it off the national holidays list. Why are you so concerned about it? Schools STILL would have to give you your alloted time off anyway, not only becuase they already have a sanctioned number of days you have to go to school (if you didnt take a standered 2 week winter break, you would just end up graduating 2 weeks earlyer becuase of it), but becuase so many people go out of town nobody would show up anyway. Just get over it. |

Gee, maybe because just about every kid in America knows about christmas already, but nobody really understands Ramadan? |

but does that mean they will take hannukah(sp?), kwanza(sp?), and ramaden(sp?) off the list too? Because if they don't thats not PC. |

ah, "just about" so there are people that don't know about it? what about muslems? they may not know about it? Im saying they should get equal time. And most kids don't know about Christmas. They know about getting presents and santa clause, but no Christmas because that is not Christmas. Jesus' birth is Christmas. Most kids don't know a lot about that, so if they can teach them about ramadan, then why dont they teach them about Christmas? |

I dunno.
I think if it's taken off the national holiday "list," there will be one hell of an uproar. I personally don't give a damn whether you celebrate Christmas or not; it's a national holiday. Lebanese people aren't concerned with offending someone by celebrating Ramadan; African countries aren't concerned with pissing people all for celebrating Kwanzaa; I'm not going to Israel and <complaining> about them celebrating Hanukkha as a national holiday. Why the hell should we care if a few randon douchebags get pissed because we celebrate CHRISTMAS? You get the time off too, so just take it and stop whining. Like it or not, this country was founded on a Judeo-Christian background. If you want to tell me I'm not allowed to say "Merry Christmas," you can shut the hell up and shove off. *Edit: Woops... Bit more of a rant than I thought. Heh. Edited by Bunkered |

Ugh. Right, Jesus was born on exactilly December 25th. Bingo. So why the crap are they teaching background to any religious holiday in school anyway? I agree that they should all either get equal airtime, or none at all. Im more in favor of the later. |
