Would anyone know what I could use with a Dremel to polish the rear bolt path instead of aluminum polish?

Also, am I supposed to use the sanding tip or the cloth one with polishing goo/ alternative on it?

And what is the square root of Pi?

I dont reccomend you using anything other than a liquid metal cleaner on a cloth. And maybe some steel wool, when polishing internals. I hear doing something extensive like dremeling, voids the warranty.

the sqaure root of Pi (Pi = 3.14)

3.14 square root is 1.7720045146669350401991125097536

lol

Good Luck!

Hmmm... ok what would you consider metal cleaner? Terpentine? Denatured Wood Alcohol? Jack Daniels? Or is there a chemical labeled "MetaL Kleaner" at Home Depot/ Lowe's?

*edit*

I just used sandpaper to polish my internals. I think I started with 320 grit and ended with 600.

Hmm... I'd like to use the least abrasive method possible. I've tried paint thinner (denatured wood alcohol actually, which is similar). I know all that needs removing is the paint, there's no real need to grind on the metal. I was thinking some kind of polishing compound (alternative to- don't want to buy one for a one time purpose) and use the cloth tool tip on the dremel. I thought I heard something about some certain kind of toothpaste with something or other in it.

Just removing the paint won't do much. You also need to remove the inconsistencies from the metal which is why I would recommend using an abrasive. If you only removed the paint the metal would still be relatively rough from when it was cast.

Ah, I see. I was under the impression that it was milled pretty clean before painting. I used a flathead screwdriver to "polish" away a bind caused by the overspray, and it came out pretty smooth just removing the paint.

Steel wool

All you need to do is get the overspray off.

the best way is to use a medium fine steel wool to remove the
overspray, then get a rag and some Mother's Aluminum/Metal
polish. make sure you work it in there good then when it is nice
and black (from the polish) use a clean rag (terrycloth works
well) and buff the polish. repeat this until you get the desired
finish. and dont forget to do the bolt. you want the same type
of finish on both parts so that you minimize the friction as much
as possible.

jon, you take a few metal working classes?

I 'pose I could try that, but doing my bolt is going to be difficult. It's the LPK bolt and it has hole in it, and it's gonna go flying across the room or my hands are going to be red.

i used a dremel on mine. I picked up 2 sticks of polishing wax. 2 different grades.

Use the cloth wheel. I did the bulk of mine with a bench grinder and a polishing wheel. I got it all done in less than 3 minutes.

Besides using steel wool to polish the internals, has anyone tried that product thats being advertized on tv...its called Flitz, if it works on chrome alloys wheels why not the polished internals of a marker?
