Hi well Im new to paintball and havent bought a marker yet. I was wondering if a tippmann 98 would be a good gun to buy as a first? I have shot a paintball gun before and know quite a bit about it and have been shot quite alot. Thinks for any responds. Plus im not sure if ill be able to buy another gun for who knows how long so i want a gun that will last me ans i can sort of grow into.

Model 98s are not as upgradeable as 98 Customs. But it matters what your going to do with it.

I would avoid WalMart. You get an older style marker and most of the upgrades you find today won't fit it.

For paint, I recommend Draxxus Blaze. Very good paint for a nice price.

As for general paintball tips - my number 1 tip is don't be afraid. Aggressive players who aren't afraid to stick their heads out and shoot their markers have the most success. Someone who hides in their bunker until their opponent comes over the top on them just lose and get bigger welts.

Of course, number one tip:

Play Safe, Play Fair, Have Fun!

Well said Mike.

You should get the power pack from Countypaintball.com and I found that Diablo Midnights were good paint when I started and at $40 for 2000rnds pretty affordable.

Slow down on the post reply button. lol

Okay, dont get the model 98. If you are gonna get a 98 get a custom. If you are gonna stay in paintball for awhile, then you will be glad you got the custom.

I would suggest checking out the sporting good stores, like **edited**s, and so forth. Even the smaller ones are selling paintball supplys now.

I also say dont buy too much paint from Walmart. Ever time I have, there is more paint in the bag than in the balls. If you are able, go to a local field and check out what they have, or can get you, and what price. Dont be pressured into ordering then and there. Think it over first. I try to support my local field, especially if I play there alot.
