You could get a Maverick for pretty cheap. Oh and this is in the wrong forum, should be in the new player section or the which gun is best forum. |

My first gun was a Talon pump for $25 about 5 or more years ago. I still have it as a loaner or for daring souls and sometimes I use it to show noobs its not in the equipment, its in the player.

Get a Phantom (sorry jake but your right!). It's one of the best pumps, they cost like $200 though. Mine was $185; it's the stock verion. If you really want the "roots", get a stock pump. For $70-80, you could get a PGP, their pretty old school, pump-pistols. |

It seems like all the cool cats do this:
Custom 98, Flatline, r/t, CAR stock, custom camo paintjob, which every hopper I feel like putting on it, vertical adapter, oh dibs, I'm running out of charact |

I know its the wrong place, but I feel entitled to drop my oppinion here. For that price, I would say either an ACI Hornet, ACI Maverick/ PMI Trracer (same thing), or a Tippmann SL-68 II. All are decent starter markers, the Tippmann being less upgradable. New barrels are tough to find for all, but Ebay works wonders. Yeah, you could spend alot more for a CCI Phantom, but if you're not going to be using it as your primary it's really not worth it. If you wanted to spend a little more I would suggest a used WGP Sniper, should be able to pick one up for under $125, or pick up a cocker and a pump kit. I have a sniper I built up from a cocker I got for 100... granted, I spent another couple getting it to my likings, but it's an amazing shooter. As for the PGP, there's a little upgrading that needs to be done in order to really make them competitive shooters, and a lot of people don't like pistols. if you're serious about this, go to stockclasspaintball.com, there is tons of information and a buy/sell section where there is always a good deal on a beginner pump. Good luck, and have fun!

if it is roots you want you should get my first marker, a Sheridan mark 1 it wasnt even pump action. You had to turn a round dial on the back of the pistol to unlock the bolt pull it back and point the marker at the ground to allow a ball to roll into the chamber.then pull the valve lever back. that was so old school the phrase old school didnt even exist yet!
