check the trigger spring first then it sound like it could use a real good cleaning. If the bolt is not being pushed back it sounds like an air problem, there might be a restriction somewhere. Hard to tell without seeing it though

1. Check to see if the linkage rod is hooked to the front bolt.
2. Check front and rear bolt o-rings and inside of receiver for old crud.
3. It may be valve related, but I doubt it since it does at least shoot out the paintball on the first shot. It really sounds like a linkage rod problem.
The Pro-Lite, may have a bad or stretched out trigger spring.

First the obvious question. When was the last time it was full stripped for cleaning?

Now for the not so obvious.

For the trigger, has it been shimmed to reduce axial play? If so, it may need to be reduced.

A new spring is never a bad idea.

For the hammer issue. Clownshooter covered the linkage arm.

Also check the drive pin for straightness. You could also have a weak driver spring.

When was the last time the valve was lubed?

If the o-ring for the valve to body seal is worn you could the this problem as well.

Honestly, before doing anything else, down a full stripdown, clean/lube, and reassemble. Don't forget to do the internal lube for the valve while your at it. Replace any o-ring with obvious damage.
