Hi, does turning up the velocity on an A-5 use more Co2 or does it just allow more air to get to the ball

Velocity adjustment on Tippman's dont work like that. With Tippmann's the velocity adjuster simply puts turbulance into the air to effect the velocity. If you are new to the A-5 beware, the A-5 "Is" quite an airhog.

Adjusting the velocity on an A5 will not increase or decrease CO2 consumption. However it will greatly affect accuracy, A5's tend to be more accurate at lower velocities. And as for the A5 being a "gas hog", I don't use an expansion chamber and still get more than 1000 shots out of a 20oz bottle.

Usually, a decrease in accuracy with the A5 with CO2 is simply outshooting the air source. It's very easy to shoot liquid CO2 when firing fast for long periods of time. Simply being aware of this and adjusting your shooting style will greatly increase your shots per tank. Basically, if you're trying to shoot 15bps for the entire game, then expect to have only 400-600 shots per 20oz tank. As for being lucky, you may be right because with the flatline and low velocity, my accuracy does not decrease until the cyclone stops feeding. The key is constant testing, keeping notes of the results and lots of paint. |

if i may add, an anti siphon tank properly installe dan the use of a RVA (rear velocity adjuster) will help alot with air consumption too.
