hey I have actually Been so afraid of this, but do you know if there is anyway that the tank can possibilly explode? Like while your playing a game and you bang it into a rock by accident will the valve get disfigured somehow and force the tank to combust like a bomb and possibally blowing off your ribs as a result your holding it between your arm and rib cage. I think if my 20 oz tank exploded while I was holding it, it could make a nice clean bloody separation of my whole right torso and arm if it did combust like a bomb.

Someone please have something good to say about this!

Don't worry, C02 tanks RARELY and I mean rarely explode. In fact i bet you will never see one explode. If the pressure builds up inside for some reason, the vavle is made to break away and it just shoots out all the air.

My Set-Up:
A-5 w/ Reponse Trigger
16" DYE Boomstick
32 Degrees Expansion Chamber

It's all I need for the rec ball I play once or twice a month.

thats what burst discs are for if the pressure gets to high it bursts letting out all the co2
if you want somthing done right do it yourself

98 custom-$135(used)
Eggy 2-$30(used
camo 4+1 pack-$10(used)
20oz co2-(came with gun)
jumping on friend out of a tree during game-PRICELESS

well now, I guess I have some explaining to do.

Yes theoretically you could hit your tank against something ahrd enough and rupture it. This would cause the metal to tear under the pressure and split open further. It would not just burst in all directions like a grenade.

CO2 isn;t combustible.

Worst you would have might be a cut from the sharp metal, most of the pressure would be directed toward the object you hit.

liquid co2 expands something like 3000times its size...(1 cubic inch of liquid co2= 3000CI of gas) that being said the pressure could possably mess up your ears...

True but that doesn't mean you should use it like a bat either. You don't have to worry if you bump it but don't drop it or throw it or anything. Basically, if you're not an idiot, you don't have to worry about it exploding.

I have seen CO2 tanks start spewing CO2 from around the valve, and empty in a few seconds while sitting in the bed of a pickup truck in the sun, at Rec fields. I think they trashed a burst disk, not sure, because it has never happend to me. Direct sun on a black tank in Florida can do it over a couple hours. Both times I saw it they where in the back of a truck.
Think and give them all you have from the beginning, and never weaken!

if you hit the tank hard enough to break the brass neck off (or accidently unscrew) then the tank will be propelled like a rocket, saw a pics on a welding tank once when the valve got knocked off the bottle went through a block wall, two cars and got half way into the third before it got stoped welding tanks are quite a bit larger and hold much more liquid than paintball tanks therefore they are probably more devastating when unleashed, nonetheless caution should be used with all high pressure tanks

When I went searching for Co2 accidents, I saw something about a HUGE 30 or 40 foot tall that had been sitting around with pressure in it for 4-5 years and they went back to fill it up (they thought it was empty) one day and it exploded. Which basically vaporized anyone within 40 feet. This also ruptured a nearby tank, causing it to fly across the lot at somewhere around 400 miles per hour which busted through an industrial building wall, and went straight through an office filled with 30 people inside. 10 of the people where hit by the tank, and the other 20 were instantly frozen. The co2 left the room at a temperature of like -100 degrees fehrenhiet and with no breatheable air at all.

Personally I thought that was pretty amazing.

If a full 20oz Co2 bottle exploded for no appearent reason, if you were within 5 feet you would be dead. And most of the windows in the house would be blown out.

Even though Co2 isnt flammable, the bottles can still explode. It just won't be a firey explosion. Imagine filling a balloon with air until it pops. It would kindof be like that. But with metal. Also you might want to think about frost bite. Co2 escaping that fast will not have time to expand into a gas, therefore it will act as a refridgerant. Even with burst discs, liquid Co2 could cause a frost burn.

Dante's Inferno states the deepest level of hell for the trecherous and mutionus (sp?) is a huge frozen lake they are frozen in, kept furthest away from the sun which in the poem symbolizes heaven's warmth and love.
