How do you know when you have to get a tank rehydroed?

The writting on my tank says as follows:
DOT-3HT3000 M9001 A23312 06 la18 02 ree:7.30 AF 019

if that is any help at all.

I ask this because mainly i bought my tank used and i dont know if they guy who sold it to me ever had it rehydroed or i dont know if its due for being hydroed. Thanks for the help and also any info about this topic would be a great help.

Edit* if this is in the wrong forum please let me know and ill move it immeadiatly.

There should be a date on the tank. The date reffers to when it was LAST hydro'd. If you have a 3 year tank, add 3 years onto that date. If a 5 year tank, add 5 years.

I dont know what the numbers or letters mean. But i think "DOT" means its a 3 year tank.

Or, go to your local pro-shop and ask.

Im using a tank that out of hydro. Its in perfect condition, and i never have had trouble getting my pro-shop to fill it.

You pro shops will fill them but it is something like a $20,000 fine for filling it past its date to get tested.

My Set-Up:
A-5 w/ Reponse Trigger
16" DYE Boomstick
32 Degrees Expansion Chamber

It's all I need for the rec ball I play once or twice a month.

DOT simply stands for Department of Transportation, the Department responsible for regulating the use, transportation, and testing of high pressure air tanks. Almost all tanks require another testing every 3 years, except for some newer tanks which have a 5 year.

Usually, you'll find some sort of symbol on the tank and on either side will be the month and year the bottle was put into commission. The month is on the left, the year is on the right. For example, Luxfer tanks use a delta-looking symbol, and Carleton uses a large C and small L. If you found this on your bottle : "06 Cl 02", it would mean that it was constructed by Carleton in June of 2002, and would need to be tested by the last day of June of 2005 (if it was a 3 year tank).

If you're having trouble finding it, snap a picture and post it and I'll be able to help you further.

3HT= Three-year Hydro Test

June 2002 + three years = June 2005

Thats this month. Mine is the same way.

doesnt it cost like $25 to get it hydro tested. If thats a co2 tank, it would be cheaper to buy a new one

yeah, it would. Which is why almost nobody ever gets them hyrdroed. Unless you have an anti-syphon tube in it or something.

I agree that a CO2 tank may not be worth having hydrostatically tested. I can buy new ones (20oz) from on-line stores for $17.00. I have bought two NIB off EBay for $12 each.
