Starter Guns This thread is here for the convenience of new players to be able to choose the gun of their dreams while still being smart about their choices. Hopefully this can stay at the top of the page so it can clear up all of the questions that keep popping upon the New Players Forum.
Wondering which gun you should get and new to the sport?
Tippmann 98 Custom One of the greatest guns on the market for new players. Made by Tippmann Pneumatics Inc. Semi Automatic Open Bolt Blowback Marker. Comes stock with a 10” Barrel. Comes with everything you will need to get out and play the day you buy it. One of the most upgradeable markers on the market. Can be used in either woodsball or speedball depending on upgrade. Many options on how to reach higher rof depending on upgrades. Most reliable gun on the marker (in my opinion). Estimated Price: $130.00 Kingman Spyder Electronic or Mechanical Semi Automatic Open Bolt Blowback paintball marker. Comes stock with a barrel from anywhere from 9” to 12” and some with kits including 16” barrels. Comes with gun only, meaning you will need to buy a hopper (most likely electronic), and a CO2 tank or Compressed Air tank. Can have just about every part traded in for a new, better part. Usually used in rec-ball or minor speedball. Optional rates of fire. Includes Semi Automatic, 3-Burst, 6-Burst, and Full Automatic. Usually breaks are minor, but when they happen they are easily fixed by a local shop or field. Estimated Price: $80.00 - $300.00 Any pump Gun Mechanical Pump Action paintball marker. Many Brands to choose from, some good, some bad. Usually doesn’t break but when it does it can easily be fixed. Mostly used in scenario paintball with 10-round tubes and 12 gram mini CO2 tanks. Its is suggested that you do not use any Brass Eagle guns from personal experience. Estimated Price: $20.00 - $100.00 (some higher but are usually bought by more experienced players)
Which Upgrades? Wondering which upgrade to get? Depending on what you want you can use different upgrades to your advantage in the game. Here is a list of some very popular upgrades to up your game.
Barrels
High Price ($60.00 - $150.00) Dye Ultralight - $120.00 Smart Parts Freak - $90.00 + $15.00 Bore Inserts The Stiffi - $95.00 - $100.00 Custom Products 2 Piece - $60.00
Low Price ($20.00 - $50.00) J & J Ceramic - $30.00 Lapco Bigshot - $50.00 Custom Products Classic - $45.00
Special Barrels or Barrel Kits ($95.00 - $210.00) Smart Parts SS Freak Kit - $190.00 - $210.00 Empire Barrel Kit - $95.00 - $190.00 Evil Barrel Kit - $150.00 Custom Products Barrel Kit - $150.00
Air Systems The most used source of propellant is compressed air. Its is suggested when using a high end gun. There are many companies including Crossfire, WDP Air, Nitro Duck, and Dye Throttle. It is suggested no work is done with a propellant unless you are a certified air smith. Depending on the Tank, compressed air may have adjustable output, or set output.
If anyone would like to continue on a higher end partion of this feel free to.
