Gen Zhu said his views did not represent official Chinese policy and he did not anticipate war with the US. Yeah...okay. We . . . will prepare ourselves for the destruction of all of the cities east of Xian. Of course the Americans will have to be prepared that hundreds . . . of cities will be destroyed by the Chinese.”
“If the Americans draw their missiles and position-guided ammunition on to the target zone on China's territory, I think we will have to respond with nuclear weapons,” said General Zhu Chenghu. I wonder what this guy was thinking-"I think we will..."? That's a pretty vague statement when you're threatening nuclear war with basically the entire free world. I wouldn't pay much attention-the only object of real value I get out of this is the mounting hostility in China towards America. The very nature of this statement tells me it's probably not any representation on actual military policy. If this happened China could bend over and prepare to cease its existence. Even if they got a nuclear weapon to hit American soil, they'd better prepare for the hell that would come their way courtesy us and every ally we have (even if that's a small list). |

Yep, only a matter of time. Our left will not allow any response now with the implied threat, when mainland China uses a military option on "reunifacation" of the break off Democratic Taiwan. Then the next expansion claim of "Indo China", will meet no opposition because of the lefts fear, then the next demand of islands off Japan, then...............appeasement is like blackmail, each demand backed by threat of force till the final impossible demand leads to the final conflict.
China has stated in the past and currently that we, the US is thier "primary" enemy in the world. Largest standing army in the world, developing "blue water" navy, new balistic missile submarines, current ecowar against the US (buying up manufacturing base, transport facilities (Panama Canal, US port facilities), now attempted purchase of a high percentage of supply ameican oil company (UNOCAL), na no chance of a war here, just thier version "peace". |

Absolutely. Amazing how in such a short amount of time, China could have us by the balls! Largest standing army wasn't such a big deal not too long ago... obsolete equipment, typical communist economy... but nowadays, updated equipment... not quite as far advanced as most US systems, but definitely a quantity advantage (within the region)... and economically they are swallowing us up. I must admit, I contribute to the Commie bastages with my Harbor Freight Tools purchases. Teetering on traitor, I guess I am.
The day might come. Anytime I pass a shipping depot... I expect companies of Red Chinese troops to come storming out of COSCO containers. :) I better move my 1911A1 purchase further along on the priority list and get my CCW! Edited by ShortyBP |

Ah-ha! His strategy revealed. We will simply destroy all the cities west of Xian. I understand that there are great considerations for the political and military standing of our two countries, but this guy sounds like an ex-girlfriend who is plotting for what we might or might not do just so he can, in his own mind, have the upper hand for now. |

Of course he is. But if we leave it at that, it wouldn't make for good conversation!
It's basically just the same old big-talk that all the big-boys throw around (including us). China's been threatening to take Taiwan with force ever since the revolution. |

So, the Chinese General is basacially saying they are about to incade Taiwan and if we try to intervene, we are going to be attacked?
I say bring it
Sure, large army, not quite so bad equipment anymore, but we have more experience, better training, more specialized training, WAY better equipment, and oh yeah.... the rest of the free world! IF China attacks, you know the UN will intervene and the UK will be on the first flight over to help. |

What if they did and our president at the time called them to confirm, then started laughing maniacally, like they just made an incredibly stupid move in chess? Maybe they'd withdraw and think about it some more. Ok, I wouldn't make a great politician.

And you're saying that the people we have here in DC, are great politicians? Plus, I think you're right on. I bet he would call to confirm and start laughing maniacally. And then thousands of Chinese troops would come piling out of COSCO containers, and my Harbor Freight Tools would all turn against me. |

If we went to war with China we probably would lose. They do have a
large population. We would have to end everything in the middle east
just to stand a chance. Then again our technology is very advanced
especially compared to them. I dont think we would even risk a nuclear
winter, we arent that stupid so war is very unlikley.

Hmmm... we're kinda stretched thin at the moment. We'd be hard pressed to take on North Korea right now, let alone mainland China. Combat units are full tilt in Western Asia. Rest of the world doesn't seem to eager to fight in anything. And the UN won't do squat. Taiwan is not a UN member state. As far as I know, the UN doesn't recognize Taiwan as an independant country. |

True, but we would never invade mainland China in a conflict.
We already know that an occupation the size of Iraq is hard, but against 1 billion people.. almost inpossible. We'd just beat them back from Taiwan and refuse all their request and demands. Was Kosovo a member of the UN? (That's a real question) Because I don't think they were yet we helped there, Was Rwanda? They still helped there. The UK and Japan and Austrailia will help us for sure, Japan and Austrailia becasue Taiwan is right there and CHina is encroaching on them. |

Hey, you should be worried about COSCO (China Ocean Shipping Company) too! I'm telling you! Thousands of Chinese troops will gain the upper hand hiding in them! They have almost 200 container ships and hundreds of thousands of containers... the containers are at every major US port, on trucks on every major US highway... they're coming!

There was a War Collage exercise where the Nationalist Chinese role played the Communists against the US/Allied on a general conflict (non-nuclear).
The first stage was two weeks of normal military maneauvers in china keeping the US Command Staff bored. Eco-war of increased civil air traffic, increased sea trade, etc. Then Chinese flagged civil airliners began to discharge paratroopers over US Air Force Bases overwhelming the small Air Police garrisons, negating our "air superiority. Then the airliners land at civil airports unloading more ground troops securing large civil airports only against modest civil police units. Chinese flagged container ships in ports waiting for unloading begin unloading troops and vehicles, taking port facilities against just token civil police units. Prestaged containers (you see them on semis on all our interstates) throughout US contain ammunition and supplies along with prestaged "WMD's" to prevent any US nuclear response against Chinese mainland since unknown number of chinese weapons are already staged in major US cities. Our current military with major units overseas, our RES/NG structure requiring massive transportation assests to stage and gear up (normally takes 72 hours minimum during "peacetime" alert sdrills to get RES/NG units to 50% combat ready). 100,000 Chinese troops landed at Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Nwe York City, Charleston, Savanna, Miami, along with Chinese Airborne troops in St Louis, Chicago, Denver, made the US Command Staff just stagger in thier response attempts, no appreciable standing combat power in states (major US units piecemeal deployed across globe, RES/NG activation in chaos, civil panic on major interstate arterials limiting any military movement, the exercise ended day 10 with Communist Chinese holding many urban areas, and US in the rural areas, just a total mess. Yes, with every American with a gun in the mix, makes a prolonged Chinese "occupation" untendable, but the concept of an "invasion" is not that far fetched as many seem to think.
