I recently purchased an A5 with a flatline. Well I dont have it yet, its on the way, but I have some questions. Are smaller paintballs better for the flatline; if so, what are some small paintball brands. Also, I read reviews on pbreview and one guy had a detailed explanation about how different fps works better. How do you increase/decrease fps and how can you tell, theres no meter that tells you "250" fps or something is there? Also, he said 275 fps is the best, is that true?

MArballizers are small. They make a 'meter' as you call it, it's known as a chronogragh.

the FPS should be in the 270ish range. best thing to do is chrono is
down into that range, then keep adjusting up or down to see where it
shoots most flat and most strait. the FPS changes with temp, humidity,
and what your specific setup is. for some reason, flatlines seems to be
like snow flakes. not two are exactly alike
there no set range that can be applied to every flatline. some work best at 280, mines works best at 267 fps. you jusy have to play with it and find what works best. a chronograph works great for finding out what you are shooting at. they make small, hand held version. Marb's are a great pball and should work well for you. |

Then buy the cheap stuff, it really doesn't matter all THAT much. Just try to stick to small bore.

The Flatline has a few requirements, one of them is using small bored high-quality paint. Higher quality paint has less noticable seams, which is just one less thing to throw off accuracy.
Another is having your velocity a bit lower than normal. I've heard anywhere from 260-280fps...you're just gonna have to experiment to see what speed is best for your setup. Also, for those that say Marbs are too excpensive, I disagree. You get what you pay for! What good is buying the $35/case paint when you can't hit anything? I personally like using the best paint I can afford, and Marbs are by far the best for the Flatline.....you shouldn't buy a $100 barrel if you can't afford to buy the proper paintballs. Another thing, you want the balls small because you want them to roll through the barrel to get backspin and reduce breaks. It's funny none of the Flatline Fanboys never mention it, but the Flatline is a pain is the ass to clean! You also CAN NOT shoot accurately with the gun canted(tilted) to either side....the balls will fly off in all directions. That's probably my biggest gripe with the Flatline! I just can't play with a gun that isn't manueverable and not being able to shoot from weird positions is a big disadvantage to me and anyone else that considers themselves and active player. |

Zesty is right about cleaning.
it can be hard to do it on the field. darn near impossible becasue in order for it to work right, its need to be new out of the box clean. your only hope is that it breaks in the barrel and not in the cyclone or in the chamber. if it breaks in the barrel, i have has small success for ingame cleaning. either you can get the quick change mod (three thumb scews instead of the three allen's). if you can loosen the paint on the barrel adapter up enough, you can get the barrel adapter just tight with only one thumb screw. just loosen it a little and pop the barrel out, squeege it and put it back on. its the only thing you can really do. if you don't have the thumb screws, you need to carry a battle swab. its the next only thing that might save you during the game with a barrel break. just stuff it down in there until no more paint comes out. try not to push the paint all the way to the chamber while doing this. small short thrusts will be better. as for the cleaning it later, i boil mine in a pot for a few minutes. it gets all the dirt and grime, oil and muck out, withouy hurting the barrel. done it 2 dozen times and hasn't failed yet. |

i got an ultralight on my DM. i shoot white box (35 bucks) and it is like darts. it is more about bore size i think, but what do i know. but on the field i use blaze, which works great. inferno works extremly well too, but white box, the cheap stuff, is good for me. and marbs have really hard shells- i heazr they bounce like mad

^Almost all the Diablo/Draxxus paints are good for the Flatline. Almost all of them are smaller bored.
They do tend to have more noticable seams than the RPS/PMI line of paints, so those are probably a bit better paint, especially for the FL. But you really can't go wrong with Draxxus/Diablo or RPS/PMI. They both make awesome paintballs. |

As mentioned a hundred times on this page. if you get the flatline set it at 260-280 fps ur gonna want to tune it at the range until it goes perfecty flat. small bore thick dry shell is the type of paint for the flatline. u cant go wrong with marbs

Yep, I saw in here that the flatline was designed for use with Marbalizers. I shot them and they were much more accurate than any other paint I put through my flatline.
