How many shots do you guys expect with the A5 using 20 oz. of CO2.

I got just over 500.  Is this normal??

That is not very good at all. Do you have the r/t or any other upgrades? Even with the cyclone you should probably be able to get 900+ shots.

I don't have any upgrades on the gun at all.

I am disappointed with this gun.   First a loose barrel adapter and poor CO2 usage.

This is not good!

Any ideas

also check your velocity. I only play rec-ball and don't have a chrono, but I shoot might at about 2.5 turns out and it's pretty good.

I got 600 shots on average. Flat out its a gas hog (no offense to anyone). So you have to pay the extra money, but tippmann will last you a long time ( good choice on your part).

A5's have not been real popular for their air usage cause pulling the trigger once is actually 2 shots cause it takes a blast of air to move the cyclone thats why the air usage is so small. but get a palmers stabilizer or it should help some but remember aways bring extra tanks.

A-5s really don't use that much more air than a 98, or any other blow-back.  The air used to cycle the feed sprocket and power the RT(if so equipped) is air that would otherwise simply be vented out through the power tube, or any other place on the reciever.

They use a bit more because of the cyclone, but not really enough to make much more than maybe a 10 or so shot difference on a 20oz Co2.

It is definately not using twice the amount of air per shot, of this I am certain.

now for a fact on tippmanns old site it showed a 98 shot roughly aroung 500 shots on a 9 ounce tank and it also showed how much an a5 would shoot on a 9 ounce tank and it was 250 their direct from tippmann is your proof

ok first off, the cyclone uses EXCES(sp) blowback gases, instead of the air going off into the atmosphere, it gets put to use in the cyclone,   *THE CYCLONE IN NO WAY AFFECTS EFFICIENCY*second off, adjusting the velocity will not affect efficiency, the valve is always open for the exact same time every shot, thus allowing the exact same amount of gas to pass threw for every shot.  the screw merely obstructs the path of the air, thus slowing it down.

I consistantly get 1000+ shots on a single 20 oz with no mods to the air system, try lubing your gun and polishing the contact areas on the inside(internals).

i wish there was a stickied thread to put these myths to rest..
