This is the n00biest question ever, but when I remove my 20 oz. from my
Marker(T98) it lets our alot of air. I know this is hard on the gun,
but how else can you avoid this?

Twist the tank one full turn and shoot out the remaining gas from the lines.

No, it didn't do any damage to your gun. and as others have said,
unscrew, then shoot, and repeat. Or you could just continue to pull the
trigger while you're unscrewing.
Of course, you could also put an on/off in your tank (not you personally. You could buy the on/off and take it to an airsmith or proshop to do it for you). If you're not experienced with high pressure tanks, don't play around with them. |

The CO2 you hear, is not coming out of the tank, it's coming out of the lines, from your tank to and in the valve. The ONLY thing that the purged CO2 might damage, is the O-ring on the tank. Even that, I doubt would get damaged. I never did see what the big deal was with people worrying about the sound of the CO2 or air, for that matter. But if it does bother you, by all means do what is suggested. The only difference is, your purging the unused air out the barrel vs. out the ASA.
