i saw this barrel system on warsensor.com and was wondering if anyone knows about it or if it is used just for airsoft and could be adjusted for paintball, b/c paintball are not perfectly round.

Q. How does the barrel work?

A. There are three grooves that allow air to pass freely above the ball. This in turn causes more pressure to build up on the lower part of the ball making it spin backwards as it's traveling forward. It's simple science. But, unlike the flatline the 66 barrel it doesn't force the ball to curve so you can tilt the marker at 90*s and still shoot just as far.

picture and q&a taken from warsensor.com

no stupid responses like "dude" "cool" "sweet" intelligent answers only also i didnt post this for people to complain or argue about it i wanted to know if anyone else has heard about it or used it

Bogus claim!

If you tilt that barrel 90* to the right, guess where the 'low pressure' side of the barrel is gonna be? On the left side, so if it does produce a spin, it's gonna be relative to that 'low pressure' side.
So, now you don't end up with back spin, you end up with side spin. And guess what side spin does? it puts a curve on the ball. just like a tilted flatline, or, an twisted apex. Further, when you put the side spin on the ball, you don't get the range benefit of an upright flatline or a non-twisted apex.

If you don't notice the curve effect when twisted, give it a direct comparison to a conventional barrel, and an apex or flatline and see if it really is doing anything for range. Chances are, it's not doing much of anything.

There have been many attempts to duplicate the flatlines performance with normal barrels, they harldy ever work. I've even heard of fish string being used to create backspin.

UV Halo, the article refers to elevation of the barrel. If you elevate a flatline barrel, rather than firing in a flat trajectory, it actually curves upwards until it stalls and falls to earth.

That being sia,d the hopup would do the exact same thing, sicne both rely on backspin.

Yup, he actually said that.

Brihard, If what you said is true, then who would tilt a barrel 90* upwards, and even more importantly, how would it go the same height?

Would it wok with paintball, because if it does it is the best flatline substitute I've seen. This would be easy to do to a stock barrel and very cheap.
