I was reading this: http://forum.specialopspaintball.com/index.php?act=ST&f= 2&t=37363&s=12005d8a1076b34bf5b23d4b25b79dd7 on the Special Ops forums. Anybody heard of a new Tippmann marker?

Since I have to be registered there to see your link(it won't let me register, guess I'm not 1337 enough for specops) I'll have to guess what they're talking about. It could be the new C-3, a propane fired pump, or one of the prototype semi-auto versions. Edited by rednekk98 |

They say at the bottom of a magazine article that Tippmann is releasing a 20th Anniversary Limited Editon marker. Sounds like they're just making small changes to already existing guns.

They made reference to it being the Feb/Mar 06 issue of SPLAT which would make the 'new' Tippmann market the C3 - The propane thing
References to an 'annodized' A-5 or Chrome plated something or other... Edited by n3twrkm4n |

I think it'd be great for them to diversify a little but I truly hope
they don't fully convert to speedball oriented guns. I'm curious to see
what they come up with.

They won't. Not with the recreational market almost cornered. Diversifying isn't a bad market strategy at all, but it can be dangerous. Tippmann would have to break into a market where there are already a dozen other companies successfully running. They'd have to invest tons of money into R&D, marketing, etc, all to produce a marker that might not fly in that particular field. On the other hand, Tippmann has got a VERY firm hold on the recreational/scenario/milsim players, a hold that no other company can even hope to compare with. My bet is that they'll stick with what they know. Deliniating from that field would take away the funds from what they've already got. They just produced a revolutionary new marker in the C-3. In order to fully produce something "High end" they'd have to allocate all of their resources to this project, shelving the C-3 and any ideas and plans they have for making a semi-auto version, or what ever. I don't think they'll make a 'high end' anything in the near future. Until I see it official, I'm gonna dismiss talk of tippmann high end production and dabbling in speedball as Bull Cookies, regardless of where the 'sources' come from. And yeah, this is in the wrong forum, but its an old thread, so moving it wouldn't be worth the real effort. Edited by Reb Cpl - 20 January 2006 at 10:25am |

The only thing that really keeps tippmanns from being respected on the speedball field is the length of them, and the lack of eyes. If they compacted the internals they could probably break into the market pretty well. The A5 has the anti-chop, but I used to play X Ball with mine regularly, and at least half of my outs were because of the cyclone. With a centerfeed traditional hopper you can angle the gun and hide it, but the cyclone adds like a square foot of target.

Just to alert everyone, "Gun maintenace and repair" is misspelled.
