    Posted: 10 January 2006 at 12:49am
I have just got a custom pro and I am into woods ball. I am going to get a new barrel to replace the stock barrel, of course, but I can't decide between the very accurate14" sniper barrel versus the range and look of the flatline. My major curiousity leis in the accuracy o f the flatline because if you can't hit your target you wil simply be missing your target at a longer range. If the flatline is very accurate, to the point of somewhat competition with the sniper barrel I am willing to spend the money, but I would prefer to save money for other mods on the gun and just get a really accurate barrel. Also I would appreciate it if anyone can tell me what kind of range the sniper barrel has while maintaining its accuracy. Any reply would be greatly appreciated! or if this has already been discussed please refer me to the forum as I couldn't find one.

The uber leet sniper barrel is not that accurate. People around here call it a longer stock barrel.

I prefer good quality straight barrels, like the Lapco Bigshot, CP, Stiffi, Ultralight, etc.

All straight Barrels have the same range. The effective range on a striaght barrel is 25m(75ft). The Tippmann Sniper barrel sucks. I owuld recomend a J&J Ceramic, or Lapco Bigshot. These are the bast barrels for your money. The Flatline will ad range to your shot, but is inaccurate at longer ranges. I would look into getting a Good straight barrel, before getting the flatline.

Just from those two choices, flatline.
NASA and the Americans spent millions of dollars and hundreds of hours to develop a pen that would write in space.....The Russians used a pencil.

From those two choices flatline handsdown. Its accurate at longer ranges but not so accurate at shorter ranges. The apex would be a good choice to

if you wana spend the money on a freak they are good, so i'd buy a stainless steel freak kit, but if you don't have that kind of money, thenn go for a bigshot

98% of ion owners think ions are better than any high end gun. If you would like to bonus ball these idiots put this in your sig.

I have an a-5, one of the features it  has is flatline.. its an amaizing barrel... shot 4 cases without a break and its as accurate as i have expectations of a paintball to be... no barrel is dead on.... so im going with the extra range... some barels are more accurate than the a-5.. but i personally am not willing to give up my range advantage for a SLIGHTLY more accurate shot at shorter ranges

My father owned a flatline barell and says its a different fun. The barell itself is totaly inacurate, and i dont know how much the 14" barell you talk about sells for, but my father got a freak kit with 6 inserts and a dye boomstick for 185 cdn used but in perfect condition.

So look around and see what you can get, if not a smart part progressive or a teardrops works great, my brother has a progressifeo on his spyder rodeo with rockign trigger and shoots darns strait with co2, and i have a teardrop on my 98.

Good barrells for hte price.

There are too many variables that affect accuracy. Barrel design is one of them, but paint choice and velocity settings are just as important.

I played Sunday at a place that required field paint, crappy PMI Stingers. My marker for the day was an ANS GXE Race Framed cocker, with a Kaner 2 piece barrel, one of the most accurate guns you'll come across.

The field paint was so crappy it looked almost like peanuts, out of round, with poor seams. On the chrono my velocity was varying by 30 to 40 fps! My normal velocity variation with good paint on this marker is 4 or 5 fps. I broke at least a dozen balls throughout the day, the paint seemed to fly anywhere but where I was aiming. I had to get within bunkering distance to get a sure hit.

Here's the sad truth, an A5 shooting good paint through the sucky stock barrel will be much more accurate than my four times as expensive ANS shooting crappy stingers.

The flatline does not suck, I've put more than 50,000 balls through one.
For I will wander to and fro,
I'll go where I no one do know,

I have been a Flatline apologist since they came out way back in '99.

Frankly, if price is a object, I would go with a 12" or 14" J&J Ceramic. Pretty accurate, very affordable.

ReclusiveTorrid has one on his new Ion and it's a great barrel, especially for the $$$.
