    Posted: 11 January 2006 at 6:11pm

Okay, so I'm not a paintballer yet, but I'm very interested. So I was looking over some paintball guns, and C-3 caught my eye. One reason why I haven't really gotten into paintball yet is because of the price. So now I see my chance to play paintball farely cheaply.

Here are my questions:

1. Can you add any modifications to the C-3 such as a longer barrel, or flatline? (I don't like the looks of the C-3, I think it would look better with a longer barrel)

2. Are there any other propane-using, semi automatic (NOT PUMP) paintball guns out there, or being developed and may be released soon?

3. Do you recommend the C-3?

4. Is there a cheaper way to paintball besides the C-3? (But is still a pretty good gun?)

1.  I believe that the barrel that is on the c3 is the only barrel you can get for it know , not 100%.

2.  The C3 is the only gun that is powered by propane , i think Tippmann said a semi version is in the works.

3.  I would recomend the C3 if you dont have fill stations near you or you like to play in the woods with friends instead of at a field.

The C-3 is relativley new and i dont think any upgrades or mods will be coming soon. My advise is to buy a different gun. If you want a pump there are other ones. Or you could wait a wile and let them work out all the bugs in the C-3
Setup:
Marke:98 custom pro
Custop Products Flame drop
Barrel:12" SP Progressive
Hopper: Vieloader evolution II

The bugs mostly involve Heat Dissipation. The reason why there is not a semi version of the C-3, is due to the fact that fast firing will heat up the marker to the point where it could burn you. You wont find many upgrades for the C-3 out there because propane technolgy is still in its Beta stages, and very few people are buying C-3's for this reason. If you are thinking that a Semi C-3 would be alot more cost effiecent, you are wrong. Paint is what is expensive, not Air Fills. You can get a 20oz CO2 tank that will give you 1000 shots filled for $5 or less at your local proshop, however 1000 rounds of good paint will run you $20-30...

The initial cost of Co2 is about $20 because you have to buy the tank but after that it only costs a few bucks to refill it. A 20oz tank will get around 1000 shots, that's the biggest you'll find except for the occasional 24oz tank. If you play at a field then they'll usually give you unlimited refills all day but some make you buy fill cards. Even when you pay for the fills, it only costs a few bucks but the savings from propane comes in due to the frequency of the refills. With propane you can go for ages without refilling. I think you get like 50,000 shots or something like that which is absurd. You pay even less to refill propane tanks on top of that so it adds up. If you can get unlimited fills at a field then CO2 won't cost you much at all so you can expand your options and look at other guns that will run on CO2. If not, then the C3 is you're only cheaper alternative. Pump guns are good to force you into conserving your air and paint but some people dont like being forced into a low ROF. If you go with a CA (constant air such as CO2 or nitro) gun then you can choose from a pump, semi, or full auto capable gun. If you can control yourself then you can use a semi that'll allow you to conserve air and paint or to shoot fast when needed. However, you'll need to modify a mechanical semi-auto gun if you want to shoot very quickly with it. Most electronic guns are very easy to shoot fast with but you may be tempted to waste paint with one. Those are basically your options. You can send me a PM on the forum or, better yet, you can email me at vscuorzo@hotmail.com if you have any more specific questions that don't get answered here. Good luck.

ah thanks. So how long do you think it'll take for them to make some mods? A year? A few months? Never?

Where can you get propane that'll fit on a gun???  Also can you fit a scope on it... not that i'm "sniping", it's just way better to be able to find concealed people and pinpoint where they are.

Also, does propane freeze up the gun like co2?

O look, there's nothing here!

Opinions from an owner...   The C-3 is pretty good for being the 1.0 version.  It takes some breaking in time though.  The only issue I have with it is that if I don’t fire enough, it will need a prime to start firing again.

There aren’t any aftermarket items for the C-3 yet and I doubt there will be.  Pumps aren’t that popular for a manufacturer to shell out the money to start tooling on something that they won’t sell much of.  You’re gonna have to make your own modifications.  As for the heat generated by shooting it, it isn’t that much.  I can see a semi version in the future. A big plus is that a 16oz. tank of propane (cost $3-$5) will last 50,000 shots.  How often would you have to fill up your 16oz. Co2 tank to get 50,000 shots, about 40 or so? At $5 a fill, that’s around $200!  Hmmmmm… $5 vs. $200…..  Sounds good to me if you don’t have a place close that sells Co2.  And even if you do, that’s a ton of saved cash for other stuff.

I enjoy my C3 as well. But Ive always believed more people should try playing pump, get some skills unstead of just unloading a hopper in someones general direction.

As for "mods", why? If something aint broke, theres no need to fix it. Ive cut sight rails for C3s already, but the feedneck placement makes bulky sights pretty tough to fit on there.

I'm finally getting a chance to take my C-3 into the field tomorrow. The handful of times that I'fe monkeyed with it in the yard it always shot nice, it wasn't too hefty, it was pretty accurate, and it handles nice.

There are a few things, like the length of the pump stroke that a lot of hard-line pump players will complain about, but on the whole, I really like the thing, and can't wait to get it out and see what its capable of.

I'm like enos in the respect that I would love to see more people playing pump...theres way too many people out there that are more concerned with spraying paint all over the earth than anything else. Its annoying.
