Any suggestions as to improve the M4 clip? This is as good as I can make
it for now. ![]() The clip is from my airsoft gun. You can get cheap ones made by Star that are something like $8. It's a plastic clip but if you get the expanding insulation you can fill the inside of the mag to make it stronger. The bracket was made from a 12"x8" welding sheet metal. It's the best thickness for this kind of application. I wouldn't recommend using ducting metal since its been treated. The reason why I mentioned about the treating on the metal is because you have to gun blue the metal. Gun blueing is used on real firearms that turn regular steel into a black colour. It's relatively cheap stuff. The most expensive part of the mod is the clip if you can imagine. LoL. Edited by azncowboy - 25 January 2006 at 3:19am |

Not bad, nothing I havent seen before. You could maybe put a raised sight rail to get the real M4 look goin on.

Nice M4. Nice idea for a cheap mag for a 98. Post a bigger pic so we can see the duct metal sheet blueing welding stuff.

Ok so here's the larger pic as requested...
![]() The gun blueing stuff is relatively easy to find. For all the Canadian's on here just go to CanadianTire. They've got it in the gun isle...if you can imagine that. The stuff that I used is from Gunslick. It's just called Gun Blue. Here's a pic of what I used. ![]() Gun blueing is not hard to do. 1) Rub steel wool until metal is bare. (You don't usually have to worry about this if you are using the same steel as I have. Just make sure the metal isn't coated with any type of rust protection) 2) Clean the surface... so to degrease the surface from touching it when shaping the metal 3) Application: You can use a sponge like they have directed, but I found it easier to dip the item in the gun blue. If you can submerge the metal it gives you the best results since it gets in all the smaller spaces a sponge can't get. WEAR RUBBER GLOVES. 4) Wait, rinse, repeat. (Until you get the desired colour.) Hope this helps! |

That looks dominant... I had plans to get to that point with mine, but after two years of putting off buying the parts, I just kind of gave up... Oh well. VERY nice looking marker, though |

Yes it's a Pro-Team stock. I think I'm finally done with this 98C. It's to the
point where the only other items are purely cosmetic. I can't justify buying any trigger replacements or other enhancements for it. I'll just get an A5 instead. |
