I am looking for accuracy and range at 50-100-possibly 150 feet with a 98 custom. I read all the stuff on all the barrels and didn't get anything sniper definitive. Let me know what will travel far, and make the paint travel straight. I am getting a stock and relocating the air cylinder. Thanks guys, I played today for the first time, and I am hooked. I need minimal arch, I do alot of woods.

The only barrel to add range is either the flatline or the Apex.

If your looking for a straight barrel I'd suggest the Bigshot. Straight barrels have better accuracy than the flatline/apex, but less range.

Stay away from the tippmann sniper barrels.

First off, there are no Snipers in paintball. Now that we got that out of the way... Get the Lapco Bigshot. It will be very accurate at lengths from 50-100 feet, and should still be faily accurate at 150 ft (if you can reach that far with what velocity your guns set at).

also , longer barrels wont add distance so dont go out and buy a 20 inch barrel.  The longest you should go would be 14-16 inches.

What length fellas! Also, what would you recommend for a stock. I will play minimal speedball. I like the woods stuff more.

For distance, the flatline will do it for you, however it's expensive and not as accurate as a straight barrel. You can learn to job shots pretty well.

On a budget, a J&J Ceramic or a Lapco Bigshot willl give great performance. A pricier alternative for incredible accuracy is a Freak kit with variable inserts.

As for a stock, I've had luck with my CAR stock. I reccommend a stock that at least retracts in length, if not folding completely against the marker, in case you need to do any close in work. I love stocks myself, but they can get in the way occasionally. You want versatility.

Shame you're on a 98 and not an A5; some fo the stocks available for A5s kick ass. Maybe I'm just projecting my regrets here, though.

For "sniper" get the flatline or apex. For just good general distance and accuracy get the lapco bigshot or the J&J ceramic. 12-14in.

As for a stock, I'd go with a collapsable one. That way if you need to get into tight places all you have to do is fold in the stock and when you get back out just fold the stock back out.

That's not the context in which he is using the term "sniper". He doesn't mean he's going to literally "snipe" with it. The barrel's name is Sniper Barrel.

welcome the the wonderful sport of paintball where on these forums saying the word sniper is against the law so try not to use the word so much... as far as barrels i would suggest flatline or freak kit....

oh did i mention not to use the word sniper.......

The s word should be said like ummm.....never around these parts! The flatline is ok. I had one. the distance was awsome, but the accuracy sucked big time. I sold that piece of junk and ordered a lapco 14" bigshot. I had more kills this sat. playing with my stock custom pro barrel than with the flatline. Lapco is your best bet.

Flatline would be your best bet for distance and accuracy. But since you play some speedball from time to time the flatline would be foolish. I would go with 12-14 inch Lapco Bigshot if you got the money. Accurate enough in the woods and great on the speedball course. Have a fun time playing paintball.

Right on...
Even so, dont say sniper. Although i personally DO think there ARE snipers (of a sort) in paintball, i still have learned not to talk about it here. However, if you want to play as a sniper, don't listen to these people who tell you there are no snipers. There certainly are, there just not the same as snipers in real life. There still snipers though, so dont let these people discourage you. Go for the lapco 14", itll get you the best compromise of accuracy, quietness, and price. its a great barrel. remember longer means quiter, but over 14 (or arguably 16) just wastes gas and isnt useful.

HOWEVER: On a tippmann it doesnt matter what velocity your chronoed to, because it always uses the same amount of gas. It slows down by putting a screw slowly into place and disrupting airflow. so with a tippmann,  you can actually go longer then 14 if you want it to be quieter, it wont hurt your gas.

the only exception to this is if you have a rear velocity adjust, which does affect the amount of gas used. but the normal velocity screw doesnt. just remember that if you get an 18 for this gun, NEVER GET IT FOR ANYTHING ELSE! Tippmanns are the only guns i know of that adjust velocity by disrupting airflow rather then changing quantity of air. so an 18 on any other gun does waste air, remember that. but if you really want to go right ahead with the 18 for your tippmann, it WILL be quieter.
