I went with important. No matter what happens in time history repeats itself in many factors. The only thing that changes are the people affected.

If we dont study history we begin to lose touch with our culture and are doomed to repeat the same mistakes again and again.

I guess my vote is a bit biased, given my history degree.

One cannot move forward without examining the past.

Lame question.

History as in, what date did columbus sail to america?

Or, history as in what was the overall effect of the oil embargo OPEC imposed on the economy?

Former = not very ipmortant. Latter = much more practical and usefull.

as the famous line goes... History tends to repeat itself, therefore we must learn from history and better ourselves by it

very true.

NASA and the Americans spent millions of dollars and hundreds of hours to develop a pen that would write in space.....The Russians used a pencil.

i put important because it is, but the only job you could get where you use history as a main resource is a historian.  i think health/emegency education is the most important class.

actually, now that i think about it, history is really important.  being without history would be like having no memory....hmm....

If we didn't study our history, how would humanity move forward? If we didn't learn from past mistakes, we'd just keep making those mistakes, and we'd get nowhere.

Aren't those essentially sub-categories of history?  The study of philosophy begins with the writings of Socrates, Plato and Aristotle, and goes on to Descartes, Locke, and Kant.  You can't learn to think unless you learn what people thought before you.

Same goes for theology.

I would venture to say that, as you get more emersed with theology, the line between history and physics becomes very very blurred.
