Vietnam Patrol: A Historical Scenario Game

Saturday, May 20, 2006

In honor of Armed Forces Day, and as a special honor to those who served in the Vietnam Conflict, Command Decisions Paintball will be hosting a scenario game entitled "Vietnam Patrol."

Vietnam 's internal conflict begins in 1954, when the nation wins freedom from French colonial rule, but being divided in the process into a North and South Vietnam. In the North, the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (DRV) gets aid and guidance from Communist Russia and China. In the South, the U.S. gives support to the Republic of Vietnam (RVN) including sending combat troops beginning in 1964.

Insurgents fighting in the South are called Viet Nam Cong San, meaning Vietnamese Communists-later shortened to Viet Cong (also Vietcong) or simply VC. Further, the United States and its allies must contend with battle hardened soldiers of the North Vietnamese Army, who invade the South in an attempt to consolidate the two Vietnams.

The scenario will be a mission oriented game for both sides. The forces of the United States will include a Company of US Marines based out of Fire Base Rex and a Company of US Army based out of Sim City . In addition, there will be a team of Special Forces and South Vietnamese Rangers based out of Fort Apache . The opposing forces will include a Battalion of North Vietnamese Army based out of the North (fitting) and a team of Vietcong who may be just about anywhere.

The time period for this scenario is May of 1967.

The object of the scenario is to capture and maintain control of territory at specified points during the day, as well as successfully completing missions issued by the command for both sides.

There will be special "non-playing" guest generals for both sides; however leadership positions are available for the above mentioned major units. Please call CD Paintball for details if you are interested in leading troops. There are perks!

Seeing that it is only a couple of weeks away time for an update.

Lots of door prizes to be given away! Also prizes to the winning general, and MVT's and MVP's. There will also be a costume contest with prizes for best themed costume (vietnam theme).

This is sizing up to be a great game, and we hope to see you there!!!
