Yestarday I bought these balls that were on sale, 500 for $4.99 and they were called Monster Balls, no wonder they were $4.99. They felt like they were 10 years old. Is there any others I should stay away from??

most paint is ok to shoot as long as its fresh and not dimpled.. you bought brass eagle... that IS the paint to stay away from lol... if you find a fresh batch of monster balls (very rare) they actually are pretty decent paint.

the shells seem super hard compared to 32 degrees, and there is barely any paint in them. will this mean it will hurt more?

i forget what kind of paint my brother was using, but he was shooting at rocks in a creekbed with his flatline from about 50 feet away. he shot about 20 paintballs in all, and they ALL bounced off the rocks...it was insane.

and NO, they weren't frozen.

Made the mistake of buying Wild Streak before.  I thought it would curve around and hit me.

Bad stuff.
