    Posted: 24 June 2006 at 7:54pm

Hey all,

My A-5 has a medium size air leak from what seems to be the velocity adjustment screw. I replaced every o-ring besides the ones in the valve assembly. Is one of these o-rings causing the leak?

- your velocity screw maybe?

- powertube damaged?

- you could have screwed it in wrong and opened the hole in the powertube wider making it leak

I thought about the power tube before. So, I switched from my stock tube to my redhotpowertube and still no effect. As for the screw, I tried wrapping teflon on it and still no effect. I have a feeling its the valve o-ring.

Well i have a 98, but to my knowledge they both use cvx valves?  The powertube and screw etc have nothing to do with a leak. The valve itself should be sealed, the powertube just guides the air to the chamber when you shoot.  Check all the seals on the valve itself to see if its good.  if its leaking, its out of the rear valve plug or front cup seat/seal, oil the orings and reseat them properly.  **this will require the dissassembly of the valve**

If this is your first time disassembly follow this

http://model98.org/manuals/cvx.php

have fun

Screw the valve out of the powertube to the asa steel braid cable and tell me where its leaking on the valve.  Soap bubbles work great to see where!

take it out, put oil on your finger and rub it on the black seal.  Not too much, not too little.  Put it all back in perfectly and then push the pin in and out like ten times to seat it properly.  If it still leaks with air, then fire the marker a few times on it to seat it further.

Hey is it a low pressure valve or stock one?

O...i know...take it all out.  See at the end of the valve and in the directions i linked you to, there is a little brass piece of metal ring with and oring on it.  rub oil on those and the pin assembly.  the oring goes on the metal ring and the oring goes that side in first.  Then put the rest in.

You shot it?  You have a max flo and a empire reg.  what r they set at?  Put them all the way up to 850 or so psi.  If you don't get that, just turn it all the way up. and shoot it

That actually helped some. I had it set to 525psi so I put it at 830. And I've found the problem; it has nothing to do with the valve... its the tombstone. It has some nicks and tiny gashes were the o-ring sets, therefore, it leaks. I just need to get a replacment.

I've been trying to post some pics for a while now but my archaic camera is not cooperating.

Thanks for the help!
