    Posted: 01 August 2006 at 4:17pm
Im pretty new to the sport and i bought a tippman 98 custom pro and now that i've got a gun i going to start upgrading various part on it, and i was thinking compressed air is a hell of a lot cheaper than Co2 and i was curious how i would go about switching my gun from the normal Co2 to compressed air, do i get low pressure kit or what do i do? any suggestions or help would be greatful and roughly how much would it all cost...

You don't need an LPK to run HPA. All you need is a high output tank, and you just screw it in.

You can get a 48/3000 for less than a hundred, but a tank that small will only get you between 450 and 500 shots with a full fill. A decently sized tank (68/4500) is 180 and up. Those will get you roughly a thousand shots per fill, provided you can actually get a full 4500 psi fill.

Ok you need to go get a scuba tank if you want to fill it your self
The paintball shop around your area may or may not be able to fill it. if you have a dive/scuba shop around your area they should definately be able to fill you tank.

Paintball air tanks can only take Nitrogen or Air, pretty much everybody uses air.

I know absolutly NOTHING about the difference between Co2 and Compressed air except the place i go the compressed air is hella cheaper, so why the hell do ANYONE use Co2?? if just compressing air is cheaper and you dont have to like change ur gun around or anything??

Because the tanks are expensive and you can't get air fills everywhere.

No... Pj, you must use diferent tanks for HPA and CO2. CO2 is found in liquid form inside the tank, so an HPA tank isn't made to handle liquid inside. Also, You can't fill a CO2 tank with air because they can't handle the pressure HPA tanks handle (3000psi and up), they would simply blow up.

CO2 tanks have a regular output of 850psi... which fluctuates depending on weather/temperature. This happens because CO2 has to change from liquid to gas, and this transformation is affected by temperature.

Now, there are 2 types of regulated output on air tanks, low pressure (~450psi output from the tank), and high pressure (~800 - 850psi from the tank).

For a Custom Pro without a LPK, you'll need HP (High Pressure), not LP (Low Pressure) output. The good thing about HPA is that output isn't affected by temperature because it's stored as gas inside the tank, unlike CO2.

Is low pressure better than high pressure, i mean i dont understand why anyone would want a low pressure kit, because i mean am i just crazy or would it make sense that high pressure would make things go faster? so why would i want a LPK for my custom pro? im trying to understand this all any help is greatly appreciated, and i would like to buy a HPA air tank and preferabally online... anyone have any good links to a tank roughly under 100 dollers... that i could buy

sports authority fills up tanks for [retty cheap and if you paintball in a plaintballing place they will have fills usually for free
NASA and the Americans spent millions of dollars and hundreds of hours to develop a pen that would write in space.....The Russians used a pencil.

no, there is not much difference in hpa and lpa, cept the tanks, low pressure kits allow you to use lpa to its fullest potential, most pros use lpa
