That's why I frequent Maryland Shooters (www.mdshooters.com) these days. I just ignore the FE-like Trump supporters and whackadoos and focus mainly on the Curios and Relics, outdoor sports, and other specific sub-forums.
mcarterbrown.com is still around as well. Not sure how active it is. Haven't been on in ages. |

I miss all of the widely available information that is no longer hosted on public forums. From paintball repair to tech solutions to various projects, it was always widely available to view online with a search engine.
I don't want to join a Facebook group to ask about paintball bayonets or if the 98 Custom will ever receive a cyclone feeder.

Yeah, I much prefer the old forum days vs algorithm-driven social media. The sites I visit the most are my outdoors and shooting forums these days. Similar conversations to what we always had here. Good debates as well.

This is too funny, I was able to use this yearbook as a reference at work last week. I didn't share the yearbook, but we were talking about online community behaviour and creating things together and I explained how we used to have forum elections, a yearbook, etc.
What an era |

Holy cow, that yearbook. That is the most painfully mid-2000s internet thing i've ever seen. Incredible.

Couldn't remember if I had a picture in there. Shocking how young I look, but I guess it makes sense since that was half my life ago

I have a copy. Found it buried in years worth of old computer files on my external hard drive.

I'm pretty torn. I'm thinking about visiting home but the idea of getting on a plane right now still feels too risky for me.
I'm starting to assume more leadership responsibilities at work so it kind of depends on what we do as a company. If we stay fully remote then I can kind of live anywhere, and I'd be surprised if we're back in the office any time soon with how things are going in America. If that's the case then I'm starting to think about heading back to Vancouver BC. Same time zone, still have friends up there, I'd regain the ability to go snowboarding every weekend pretty easily which I lost when I moved south. The motorcycle season would be shorter and weather would be worse, but that's alright. I'd probably gain the ability to go ride dirt outside the city, so its a fair trade. It's a hard choice though, I really like San Francisco and I never really decided when/ why I would leave, so now I'm kind of questioning if I will. |
