98C cyclone not functioning

   I ahve a 98c with r/t and cyclone.  It also has the LP kit and 1/8 hoses that currently does not have the reducer in any of the hoses.  Problem is my cyclone is skipping frequently  from lack of air and not very powerful.  Should i put the reducer ont he r/t side to improve flow tot he cyclone?  i didnt read the instructions, me being a guy, i just put it together without the reducer .  I recently moved my a5 vortex into my 98c and it was a littel better but didnt help all that much.
