I was wondering what would happen if you drilled holes in the barrell inside the shroud? If you packed the shroud with steel wool I know it would make it quit because the air would be trapped inside that shroud but what would it do to the flight of the ball and the amount of air used by the gun? Any thoughts?

Well, unless you knew what you were doing, you could seriously mess up your barrel. Im not sure what the porting would do, but you could put less ball spin on the ball, resulting in less added range. If you were to port it, put the holes near the tip to reduce loss of range.

Edit: Wouldn't affect the use of air and you could use packing foam rather than steel wool. It doesn't leave fragments that can get in your barrel and cause breaks. Steel wool is used in firearms only because it doesn' burn as quick.

Steel wool would be a really BAD idea. It would give you a big rusted piece of crap.

buy an AA or some other heavily ported barrel...

sound suppressing devices have been deemed illegal even for paintball guns.

You could get a quieter barrel and put an apex tip on it?

Dont drill the barrel but I have heard that puttin a sound dampening material inside the shroud itself.  It is supposed to help with the reveb in there but I am not sure if that is true or not.
