I am trying to build my ideal Tippman A-5 w/ Response Trigger before buying it in about a month. So far I have decided upon purchasing a JJ 14 inch ceramic barrel, DOP gas thru front grip, and a CP flame drop forward. I was wondering if anyone had any bad experiences with any of these, or anything else thats an upgrade from these, and other things. I'm not on the strictest budget but a moderate one. Thanks.

The grip and drop are pretty much purely cosmetic as far as upgrades go. I'd think you'd get better bang for your buck if you invested that money into upgrading the cyclone so that you get a reliable feed rate out of it with the R/T. The R/T and J&J Combo is a go though. Nice choices there.

I believe TechT makes a mod called the "vortex mod" it replaces the stock plastic piston and ratchet in the cyclone feeder with aluminum parts (meaning less chance of the ratchet breaking) used in conjunction with the "lightening rod" that TechT makes, you can achieve faster cycles with the cyclone. It will also lower the operating pressure of the cyclone so you don't wind up having to manually feed rounds when you get low on air. They also make a QEPH (Quick Exhaust Piston Housing) that will allow the cyclone to operate at even low and faster speeds than with just the vortex and lightening mods.

Here is a link to the items mentioned above over on PBreview.com Linkey-goodness!

I think I'll keep researching those, although i think its guaranteed i'll get the QEPH. I see a mix of good and bad about the vortex and lightning rod but it looks like they recently improved something on the rod. I'll keep looking at em. Thanks.

You also need a "Grip Adapter Block" for the drop forward if you buy it. Not sure if you knew that

To piggy back on ssok's post. Shocktech makes drop forwards for the A-5 that put the ASA in the perfect spot so you don't have to worry about switching out the stock gas-line for a new one. They come with the adapter built into the system.

Do the vortex mod, lightening rod, and QEPH, take some skill to put in? Also, is there an order they are needed to be put in? Thanks.

They're all drop-in/bolt-on mods. If you have a set of allen keys, a screwdriver, and can read, you're all set!

QEPH can be put on at any time. The Vortex mod needs to come before the lightening rod though, or at the same time.

Thanks for all your help Tallen, I never would have known about those extra mods. You're quite knowledgable.
