this one should throw some of you younger boys off, but I'm hoping a handful of older guys will be familiar with the marker enough to help. I've got a 68 carbine thats stock. Recently, when I put air through it, I have no leaks or anything, but when I pull the trigger, I can get maybe two or three shots, then the bolt will not return to re-cock, and I'll get the multi-shot, rapid burst that is similar to when you run out of air, I have to manually stop the bolt as it cycles back and forth. Yes, my tank is full. Suggestions? And don't make me sticky this until I get an answer. |

i'm not too familiar with the marker so this might just be a pointless random guess. is it possible that the sear is worn down and thats why its not catching?

Same here i dont have a 68 carbine but....sounds like any other tippmann problem, try checking the sear spring, it might be too weak? if not maybe the sear is worn like "gi joes son" suggested.

Sounds like a loss of back-pressure issue which tends to plague Pro-series markers as they get older. They often won't fire properly unless there is paint in them. |

I never thought it would make a difference if there was paint in it or not. I'll try that this afternoon. |

In addition to what tallen said, check the hammer o-ring.
Also check to make sure the plastic sight that snaps into the sight rails on top of the marker still fits snugly and has not developed a "wear groove" in the base. This piece holds the linkage arm in place and binding can result if it is not snug. (Please keep in mind that I'm trying to do this by memory; it's been a long time since I had a 68 carbine so if I've got old Tippmann's confused, I apologize.) |

Yep, Mack covered the other culprits I've forgotten about. It's been a loooong time since I've worked on a Pro-Series CVX system.

Yep. I can get any parts I need pretty quickly from ShortyBP. You handle shipping and cost of any new parts and I'll fix it.

Of course, while you're ordering replacement parts, you'll want to add in a new Air Tipps CAR stock, and Air Tipps Carry Handle, so you can make this your very own AR-replica 68 Carbine, right?

You forgot an obscure part that causes problems, the linkage arm.
If the little bugger is bent even the slightest bit, it can cause enough friction to screw up the recock. Set it on a nice flat surface and eye it for bends. Check the slot it rides in for crud or obstructions. |

Sure thing! It's going to be a month before I get the TF-5 torn down and re-built, so I might as well do something with my free time. |

Did you ever get it working. I had that problem with my Pro Carbine. I replaced the CVX valve and no more problem.

Try changing out the rubber bump stop and your spring. This should get things back in order!!

^^^ Several things.
1. The 68 Carbine did not require liquid CO2. 2. This thread is ancient--bumping it was not necessary. (The original question was posted more than two years ago. |
