questions about x7 from a newbie

   hello, i am coming from a 98 custom, and am thinking about buying the x7. i play backyard woodsball, i use co2, i have a j&j 12" barrel for a a-5 that i would like to use on the x7. only interested in the basic x7 or the x7 with response trigger. and will be using medium grade paint-no expensive stuff. is the x7 a good marker for this and will the a-5 barrel fit-and would this barrel be a good upgrade on this gun, also is the response trigger worth it, hope this is posted in the right section. i am 40 years old and just quit motocross and started this new hobby.

	A5 and X7 share the same barrel threads. I recommend saving your 98 barrel as well if you decide to part with the 98. They already make 98 adapters for the A5 and although I haven't looked I expect that 98 adapters are available for the X7 as well. The 98 would probably be sufficient for backyard balling if you want to save money. (However, it is always fun to have new stuff.) I've had good luck with the r/t on 98 series markers and bad luck with it on the A5. As I don't have an X7, I'll just have to let someone else talk about that. If you aren't planning to dress up your marker mil-sim style, you may want to consider an A5 instead and save a little money.

	there's not much difference between the A5 and the X7 new valve and a slightly upgraded cyclone feed system a little lighter, air through stock... a little bigger imo... stick with the A5. Its cheaper so you can use the extra funds for ups

	a5 it is, and i have a 12" j&j barrel for it, this is a good barrel isnt it? and what is too cold to play, i want to play this weekend, gonna be close to 48-50 degrees.

	I concur that the main reason to choose an X-7 over an A-5 is for the mil-sim possibilities. You will be happy with the A-5. As for the cold - you can play in almost any temperature. Once you drop below 50 or so, however, three things start happening. First, o-rings start shrinking. This isn't a terrible problem for Tippmanns, but can devastate some other guns. Second, CO2 can start acting unpredictably. Your chronoing could be off, and you will be shooting a lot more snow. If you use HPA this is not a problem, of course, and can also be mitigated with all your standard CO2-protection methods. Lastly, and most importantly, paintballs become brittle. This is a real problems for Tippmanns, and particularly for the Cyclone, since they are rough on the balls. Try to keep paintballs stored in warmer areas before and between games. Better yet, use cold-weather paintballs like Polar Ice. But I have played outside in temperatures well below freezing (with an A-5) and had a grand old time.

	Also I noticed that some winter paint doesnt hurt in below freezing. I used some last year in the snow and they worked wonderfukky. I only had one break the whole day with my a5 and I think it was user error (i think some snow got in the barrel). I agree to go with the a5 though
	Stay low, run fast, and hope that paintball doesn't hit your...

	thanks to everyone on this forum. great info. i got a a5 with a j&j 12" ceramic barrel, bt fixed site rail, and a stock, the gun is just awesome, could not ask for better performance and accuracy for woodsball. well i am so addicted to paintball now, i have my trusty 98c, my a5, and just bought a spyder mr1(just couldnt resist the cheap deal i got on it), anyway, just a shout out for a great forum.
