Looks like they are now producing an upgraded line of 98s called the platinum series. Also looks like they are now offering 2 year warranties on their products. More information is available here: http://www.tippmann.com/product_guide/markerDetails.aspx?cat egoryid=13# Congrats Tippmann! Edited by God - 31 January 2008 at 3:35pm |

well theyve gotten to the point where they cant make their 98 variants look or sound different so there just making small mods and calling it a 98. at least they say its just a 98, unlike other markers which are the same but are declared totaly different. |

They say they changed the front grip, but it looks the same. The stupid top makes it look like a Bt4, and is extremely ugly. I'm just glad they're still making the basic 98c.

Wow the tactical edition is the worst ak47 I have ever seen. The barrel sticks out like 2 cm from the ak47 shroud.

Does anyone know if there is an official release date for the platinum?
Edit: Other than the Marc 2008. I'm talking about a specific date like March 15 or something along those lines. I'm just curious because I have been debating purchasing this or an X-7...but haven't been able to decide yet. I would like to get my hands on it first to see how it feels...though I'm assuming it'll be pretty similar to the other 98s. Edited by Chickensaur - 25 February 2008 at 1:01pm |

Stick with the original tried and true 98 design. Plus, the gills on the
original 98's took away from the look, in my opinion. |

What do you mean the gills on the original 98's took away from the look? Is there any reason as to why you think the original 98 is going to be better than the PS? |

I have a 98 Custom ca. 2002 and it still humps! About the only thing that interests me about the new models is the anti-chop tech and only because I want to prove that I can chop a ball in it.
Yep, I love my 98 and I'll have it 'til my playin' days are over.

I don't like the gills either. Looked dated.
The platinum looks good except for the flatline man that looks gross. I like how they made the 98 rental they must be loosing market share to Warsensor's WSR. So they thought lets put "rental" in the name. What are the benefits of buying a 98 instead of an A5 is it just cheaper? Edited by chaibill - 06 April 2008 at 11:41am |
