get the classic, i like the gills a lot. keeping in mind that some upgrades, such as the rt, may be a bit more challenging.

I have both. I have the classic with a flatline barrel (which I do like)on it and my 98C with my M4 kit. They both are practically the same gun, but if I could only have one, I would go with a newer 98C. They shoot faster (just by a little bit), and I think you can upgrade the newer one even more. I guess it comes down to which one you think looks better really.

i saw the 98c AK47 kit in a store looked awesome and felt surprisingly light $200.00 They have the new 98c platinum it is nice too. And the one that surprised me was the Smartparts SP1 this thing is pretty it is light runs on CO2 or air 3 shot bursts and full auto (not sure) real nice gun $150 with life time warranty free labor. I almost bought it right there but IDK if I want to be dealing with dead batteries. But I have read a lot of good things about it.

the 98 with gills is the first generation model 98, the 98 custom came a few years later. The 98 custom builds on the model 98 strengths, by making it more easy to customize. Were you would have to cut or drill, to make modifications to the model 98. the custom 98 would have removal parts or holes already pre drill in it, to make installation easy. if you are just looking to change the barrel and maybe add a expansion chamber, get the model 98. if you are going any further than that, like a 2 finger trigger, respones trigger, cyclone feed or any other upgrade. buy the 98 custom or the newest 98 platnium.
