I can't seem to get my hopper to work, When I put the batteries in it won't turn on, I've tried every position for the batteries and they definatly work 'cause I put them in my TV remote

Just because they have enough juice to power a remote, doesn't mean they can power something else. Try a fresh pair of batteries.
