I'm looking to purchase a new paintball gun and so far A-5 is one of my picks. I'm a kind of player where all I care about is power and accuracy, not speed. Could I get a 14 inch barrel to increase accuracy or would that decrease the power in a gun? I've never had a barrel that was longer than 9 inches so I don't know the affects of them. Would that work or is A-5 a bad match? If so which Tippmann would you guys suggest. PS I rather it be a Tippmann for its a great paintball company that I trust. Also money isn't a huge deal for its my savings but I would like to keep it under $250.

As far as the barrel, I would suggest either a J&J Ceramic or Lapco Bigshot in a length of 12 or 14 inches.

That said, I recommend that you read section 5 of this post.  The question you've asked requires a more detailed answer than I feel like typing and the post I linked to covers a lot of the information related to it.

The A5 is an excellent marker, but which marker is really answered best by what you intend to do with it.  For instance, if you want a mil-sim setup then the X7 or Alpha Black would be better choices.  If you don't like the idea of an air operated hopper, then some type of Model98 would be a better choice.

My favorite barrels are the CP 2 piece, All-American, and JJ. Everyone
loves Lapco but I've never tried one.

If you like the A5, get it. Don't settle.

If money isnt the question dont waste it. dont buy something flashy cuz the guy behind the counter has a huge mark up. true the x-7 is already a mil sim looking weapon..but how many of those mods has spec ops actually come out with? look at the availability of the mods you want. othe companies now are building the stuff promised for the x-7 so they are on the way. the a-5? bout everything you could want is already there. i own an x-7 and a 98. but I'm looking for A-5 to finish my playday weapons. i have all lapco barrels and one cp. bought the cp cuz the said to.my buddy has all apex ready lapco different bores and lenths and switches all the time. unless its the look you want any more than 10 -12" is slowing your ball down. search around for info on barrels...but definately get an A-5.
Dont build it cheap. build it right!
