1) Cost is not an issue.
2) I don't care about milsim but I do think the X7 looks cooler(!) I've been reading here that the A5 and X7 are internally very similar (But have read elsewhere that A5's are capable or up to 20BPS and X7 are capable of up to 30BPS (That is, with standard factory upgrades; E-grip, etc)). Which would be better for me, a fully upgraded A5 or a fully upgraded X7 A5 would have: Double Trigger, E-Grip, Flatline Barrel X7 would have: Double Trigger, E-Grip, Flatline Barrel (I don't know of any other standard upgrades the A5 or X7 can have). I have played paintball a fair few times across the country, won a 5-man tournament and felt it's time to buy a marker! I'm a little lost though because I thought i'd get an X7 but after reading here they're similar I am unsure now. . . Note: Since I live in England I will likely only be able to have standard factory upgrades for my gun since shipping from abroad is costly and I'd rather buy the marker fully upgraded straight out. Edit: Thanks to Ammolord for the replies so far. Edit: cost of fully upgraded X7 is approxomately £400, or $700. If I'm spending that kind of money would I be better off with a different marker? Although preferably a sturdy, reliable one. Edited by Viirkokka - 10 December 2008 at 9:34pm |

if you plan on doing both speedball and woodsball id go with the A5. i would also ditch the flatline and get a apex or a 14" J&J ceramic barrel.

I live in England btw so getting hold of a J&J may be tricky but I can try. Why's it better?
I'll likely mostly play woods but sometimes speedball. what fires faster; factory upgraded A5 or X7? Additionally, is 15+BPS necesary? |

Also, I heard elsewhere the X7 has an upgraded Cyclone feed system although someone replied that the A5's now come with this too.. :S

ok... internally they are almost the same. As for which is faster the factory A5 comes at a limit of 15-17bps without chopping paint like a blender. The X7 is 17 bps. So really not much of a difference. With upgrades it is claimed they can both get to 30 bps but this is highly unneccesary. I set my A5 at 13 bps and it still seems to be alot of paint. The X7 is an A5 in military clothes really. I personally like th feel of the A5 better. It does not feel as bulky. The J&J is better than the flatline b/c the flatline adds distance at the cost of accuracy where the J&J is extremely accurate at normal paintball ranges. There are other markers out there but I am not sure of what else you are looking for.
As fir the clothes from your other thread where whatever you want... your the one playing. I wear MARPAT's but thats just my prefference. *PS* Also just to throw it out there. The cyclone upgrads help the speed but are not neccesary and I have only changed out the ratchet just to be safe on mine. As far as internal upgrades go (ie powertube, bolt, etc.) Dont buy them. They tend to hinder performance more than help it. |

I can get a J&J from Amazon.com... I was just curious though.. why a 14" and not a 20"? I thought a 20 would fire further and be more accurate?
This is the one I was looking at: http://www.amazon.com/Black-Tippmann-Ceramic-Paintball-Barre l/dp/B001IC6A6C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods& qid=1228992077&sr=8-1 Although there's another one.. what's the difference?: http://www.amazon.com/J-Ceramic-Tippmann-98-Barrel/dp/B000GT UUCS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1228992 023&sr=8-1 Here's the 20": http://www.amazon.com/Tippmann-Tippman-Ceramic-Sniper-Barrel /dp/B000LTQ7CU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&q id=1228992077&sr=8-2 |

As for further, a paintball leaving the muzzle at field velocity (mostly 280 feet per second [at least in America]) will go the same distance, regardless of which marker or barrel it will be shot out of. The only thing that will add distance is the Flatline and Apex, because these barrels actually place a backspin on the ball. In short, long barrels will not make your gun more accurate, and with the excpetion of the Flatline and Apex, ALL paintball guns shoot the same distance. |

Hehe thanks for the response! Ok I'll stick with a 14" if I buy an A5.. Most markers shoot about 150-200 ft yeah? So I doubt i'd need even more range
